Note 8 signal

No issue on T-Mobile with unlocked model, signal strength has been great from the time I have received this. Data speeds are also on par with other phones.

I've had about 2 to 3 bars occasionally 1. But no one ever complained that I was breaking up. Everyone I talked to yesterday complained I was breaking up.
Did you try calling and get your sim reprovisoned? I think that's what they call it. Nothing more frustrating than having a brand new phone that can't make a clear phone call.

I think it's just my area and oddly time of day. I now have 4 bars. Go a couple of miles north of me and you can't even get on the internet

I have a problems with a weak signal in my house and rural area as well. It is so weak the signal wasn't strong enough to activate the phone when I first got it. I had to call Verizon and have them manually reset and override the activation. We were having problems with really smoky conditions due to all the fires here in California which may have contributed to the signal issue. My S7EDGE was fine until an update in June and then no one could hear me on calls even though I could hear them. My husband's Kyocera DuraForce Pro also has a poor signal, he has to go outside to talk on his phone. He's a farmer and is on his phone alot so not having a decent signal at home is a problem for us both. We recently switched our wifi ISP to HughesNet which is Satellite based. Apparently the signal booster you can get from Verizon for marginal service areas will not work with satellite internet so that isn't an option. It looks like I'm going to have to activate my landline's long distance plan again which is nuts because I have an unlimited Verizon plan. Why can't they make these phones with better antennas? No other carrier has decent service in our area either.

I have had my note 8 for 2 weeks and it has horrible service. Usually one bar or it will say no service. I dropped at least 4 calls in the last 3 days. My text messages fail to send sometimes. I called att they did troubleshooting and created a ticket. The ticket was looked into but they say it is not a network issue, so it must be a phone issue. I am going to try a different case and also call Samsung directly.

The S8 and S8+ are pretty weak too. I don't think Samsung has been using the best LTE radios recently.

I have a ATT note 8 and get better signal then my iPhone 7 plus...

Also the bars mean nothing. On band 2 the difference between 1 bar and 3 bars is 6 dB. It his one bar at -106dB. That's still a good signal to me. I used to having usable signal down to about -118dB.

I don't pay attention normally. It haven't dropped any calls or anything and have good reception.

Found the problem with the poor cell reception. Wifi calling. We switched to a satellite ISP (HUGHES NET) in June and that's when we started having problems with people hearing us (we were breaking up) although we generally could hear them. Going outside would help. Turned off wifi calling and now even though we only have 1-2 bars we can make and receive calls inside our house (or cabin) loud and clear.

I have found my Note 8 to have great reception. We our on Verizon and I have never had a problem. Drove to AZ this past week my son. He has a Moto Z Droid. I n some rural areas he had 1G and I had 4 G.

Thanks for sharing, and glad it fixed your issue. I also have Wifi calling on. But in the settings for it, it says "Use Wi-Fi when mobile network is not available.". So I'm surprised yours was kicking in if you had any kind of mobile connection. Maybe it also uses wifi when it sees the mobile network is weak?

Overall, on Verizon, the signal on my N8 is notably stronger than it was on my S7E or Nexus 6P.

Is it just me or is the signal horrible? I have one tiny bar and have already dropped 3 calls

you need to go into the play store and download a app called ROAMNEST . then change you radio frequency to TD-SCDMA/UMTS this is the frequency i have the best reception with on my att note8. or theres another 1 that will make it 3G and give you a way better signal i went from 113 DBMS TO 88 DBMS its THE ONLY app i have found thatll help your signal. now thatll help for talk and taxt but since it is a better signal , it is however still 3g making some games playable but slower. like modern combat 5 if its the right time of day i cant play it unless i goto 3g . its wierd. a better signal but slower haha, good luck i hope this helps!!!

I went from a LG V10 to a Note 8. I'm on AT&T and have a lot better signal with this phone. I used to turn on airplane mode at work to stop the V10 battery from dying in a couple of hours due to searching for a signal all the time. The Note 8 gets at least 2 bars here at work. I'm quite happy I can now use my phone here.

On AT&T wifi calling turns of and off based on the strength and quality of the network. I don't like that I just can't pick one or the other or both. Only way around it is to turn on airplane mode and then enable wi-fi.

It does help to make sure your IMEI is properly registered in your account. Just swapping the SIM may seem fine but the service is not optimized for your device if it's not registered.
