Note 8 to iPhone X?

I can’t get over the shape of the X screen, between the notch and rounded corners.

Animoji? Wheee, fun for a day.

FaceID? Cool, but not compelling by itself.

iPhone 7 Plus user here, seriously considering switching to Android.

It's not an update when you're pushing it out to fix something you broke the last update. And the Note 8 is updated to the October patch from Samsung. It's not their fault if your carrier is lousy at updates though.

I have an unlocked Note 8 and mine is on the August patch. Has nothing to do with my carrier and everything with that fact that Samsung has been neglecting updates in large parts of the world.

Had a chance to see one in person. Build... that OLED panel... nice phone.

I have both phones and both phones are absolutely amazing. I will say the X looks absolutely tiny in comparison to the Note and the screen size differences are ginormous. The X is so compact and light it feels like a toy. The Note 8 is just a gorgeous beast. Both are fast and offer the best of each's respective operating system. Having used Android for over a year, I do appreciate the simplicity of things like imessage and the app ecosystem. But, when I want to watch Netflix on the stairmaster, I'm gonna want the Note. I love both of these phones for different reasons.

The last iPhone I've owned personally was a 4s. Working at an electronics retailer (any guesses? lol) gives me an opportunity to play with pretty much every new device. That being said, when the X display unit came in, I felt the familiar phone envy start to creep in. Since my 4s days, I've owned every S series Galaxy phone minus the S6 and I had a Note 4. Some may call me a Samsung die hard at this point, but I just happened to fall in love with their Android skin and displays. Nothing the iPhones since the 4s have offered interested me and I hated the pure vanilla Android phones. Let me tell you though, with my Note 8 in my back pocket, I started to feel that urge to buy the X when I picked it up. The display is great, the cameras are excellent and the experience is very smooth. I was ready to throw my debit card down to order one when I remembered why I'd stuck to Android these last few years: I hate the rigid feeling of iOS. The grid of apps I can't move around without jailbreaking, the fact that I can pick a gorgeous wallpaper but that grid limits how much of it I can see, no weather widget which is a staple on my Androids among other things are all cons for me. My personal two cents: the iPhone X is a gorgeous, gorgeous phone but it doesn't offer nearly as much as I've become accustomed to with my Samsung phones. No pen, no multi-window, no fingerprint sensor, etc. For now, until Apple becomes a bit more daring, I'll stick to my Note 8. The X is a great phone and a step in the right direction for Apple, but I can get my fix of the Animojis using my mom's haha

For the last 10 or so years I've had to deal with the ridiculous and annoying comments of iSheep disgustingly saying "aw you have an android?" I usually tell people how I have an older iMac, an iPad 2, and a Macbook Pro, and that I just really like Samsung phones. However, the X intrigued me. This Apple iPhone finally seemed to close the gap in terms of hardware. I got used to removable batteries and not having expandable storage (love the cloud) with the Note 5. The iPhone now has waterproof, wireless charging, OLED screen, and tiny bezels. The software is equally good as android and arguably better (besides the lack of customization of course). With that being said, as the millennial constantly judged for using an android, messing up the color and quality of multiple group messages, posting terrible snapchat videos/photos, and not being able to airdrop files or facetime with 95% of the people in my life... I'm ready to jump ship. My X comes in tomorrow and I will be turning in my Galaxy S8, wondering if I'll be switching back for the Galaxy S9 or Note 9 next year.
I'm very curious about internal speaker volume and sound. Hate the Note 7-8 speakers. Sounded way better on my Note 3. Big bezel iPhones sound nice. I wonder if the X sounds more like the tinny Note 8?

I always thought that the manufacturer of the phone sends out the update to the carriers and then it's up to the carriers to send them out to customers. Am I wrong?

Many shots needlessly from different angles, vantage points and distances rendering comparison impossible. Shots taken from the same angle and distance at the same object are pretty similar.
They have a different zoom distance, I believe they were at the same angle and distance it's just the note has a wider viewing area.

Yes, Watching videos the Note 8 probably the best panel on one of the best phones this year is nice... but mated with a single speaker I've found myself wishing I had more volume in certain places where not very noisy but enough to want more volume. it brings the experience down a bit.

Needs a second speaker and for me could be a little louder but been usable for me in speakerphone calls. It'll probably be in the Note 9.

Samsung pushes the security patches/updates.

OS updates go from Samsung to carrier to us.

Of course I prefer comparing shots not zoomed at all but the viewing angle could explain part of the difficulty of comparison.

Like what have they copied from Android?
Amazing. Wireless charging, slim bezels, OLED screen (AMOLED) , face unlock, optical image stabilization (OIS) on 2 rear cameras, no physical home button. Those are just the obvious and most recent no brainers.

Doubt it. 7 and 8 bith had horrible sound. The assumption is listeners will use Bluetooth headphones. I seldom do so enjoy good phone speakers. I don't mind a little extra bezel for some bass but I know I am in the minority
