Note 8 to iPhone X?

I'd take drop test videos with a grain of salt. Almost any phone will shatter if dropped at the right angle or onto an even surface. If you care about it and don't want it broken then use a little common sense and cover it with a case. If all you care about is seeing your phone in all its naked glory then you know the risk you carry

Because you were commenting about camera/photos. I should have probably replied to the thread your comment was based on or the other thread on the camera. I’ll make the correction and link the direct article instead. ??????????????????

Why the link?

Did you notice how barely any consumers are complaining about the display ratio of the iPhone X compared to the complaining that was done for the Note 8? iPhone X ratio is apparently 19.5:9 with the notch.... That's even wider than the Note 8, GS8/8+ ratio of 18.5:9.

Time for people to accept the wide ratios.

iPhone X's screen width is smaller than the iPhone+ phones. So the content you see in normal portrait orientation is actually smaller even though the diagonal screen size is bigger.

I can’t get over the shape of the X screen, between the notch and rounded corners.

Animoji? Wheee, fun for a day.

FaceID? Cool, but not compelling by itself.

iPhone 7 Plus user here, seriously considering switching to Android.

I switch from the iPhone 7 plus to the note 8 and never looked back. I been using most of the iPhone series, and I'm tired of no innovation, which is the reason why I left for the note series. (I used the note 5, 7 and now 8)

How's the iPhone X verse note 8 in sunlight theoretically the note 8 then kicks in at double the brightness is that true?

Check displaymate. They have the test report up na for the iPhome X. Brightest screen, brighter overall than the Note 8. The Note 8 can get brighter on small areas of the screen, but not the whole screen. The iPhone X has the best display that they’ve ever tested, and yes, they have tested the Note 8 already.

No fanboy of anything just reporting results.

After many many years of Android, including Samsung’s up to the S8, and a few BB’s and Windows phones thrown in, about 3 months ago I got an iPhone, my first. I’ve never looked back since then. :-p

Note 8 is able to do 1,240 nits in Low Average Picture Level mode (in bright sunlight), while X can only do 809 nits in the same mode. On the other hand, X can do 634 nits on full brightness vs 560 nits for Note 8. Sorry, but I'll take the Note 8 here, as 560 nits is more than enough, and in sunlight, it can get much brighter.

The main reason why X was called the best display is because of the screen calibration. As much as I tell myself I should like that, I just enjoy the Samsung colors better.

Either way, both are fantastic displays.

Even happier that I pulled the trigger on the Note8 prior to the iPhone8/X announcements. Even a hands on demo of the X didn't entice me to ditch my Note. If you have an X or you want one, cool! Go with what works for you and have fun with your new iPhone! Specs and overall look are fantastic but two months in I'm more than content with my Note8.

I didn't know about this. I did my own mini, completely non-scientific test since I have a Note 8 and an iPhone X. I watched an episode of Stranger Things in HDR on both, side-by-side last night and the iPhone X blew me away. It was incredible. I was surprised that it did better than the Note to be honest. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that Apple implemented Dolby Vision HDR and Samsung uses HDR 10. It is my understanding that the two standards are encoded differently. But as it stands now, even though the Note 8 screen is bigger, I'm finding that I like the iPhone X display better overall.
