Note 8 to iPhone X?

Regardless of Benchmarks and bright displays on the iPhone X I'm having too much fun with my Note8. No offense to the X but the notch on this iPhone makes me think the X wants to kill me in my sleep. Looks angry and uptight 😠

I made the switch today. I'm a dedicated Apple user. Believe me when I say that, I tried going back to android several times in the past but ended up switching back to Apple within days. BUT the Note 8 caught my eye and I've ordered it. So I'm going from the iPhone 7 Plus to the Note 8. I have a feeling I won't be making my usual switch back. :p
I think most iPhone users switch back because in order to provide all the customization features of Android it is more complicated to learn. People who won't hit the forums nor ask questions get frustrated and go back. Once learned ALL the features of Android shine and one is less likely to go back. Trouble is it is nearly impossible to get comfortable with switch to Android in 14 days so people return the phone.

If all you do is play games, make phone calls, and send texts to other iPhones the iPhone is a better choice really. It is simpler and less buggy.

I love my Note 8. I also love my iPhone X. If I could only have one I’d probably opt for the X. The size is just perfect for me. The Note has no equal in other aspects though. However when it comes to day to day use the X wins by a slim margin FOR ME.

First, the kids did not "hack" the face ID.
The technical breakdown was fairly interesting. They did multiple tests and found that it would not allow the son to access when she set up face ID under good light, but would fail when done under poor lighting. It also said the more he used it the faster it worked.
So, while this is a fluke it does make it obvious that a fingerprint is necessary. Apple will most likely get it improved or fixed in an update.

This is what I've found too. I've fallen in love with the size (and screen) of the iPhone X and have barely used my Note 8 since I got it.

Ive just switched from the 8 plus to the Note 8. My first android phone in years. Have to admit I have been on the fence since the iPhone x released to the point where I have preordered and cancelled the preorder 3 times lol. Having seen it and tried it in person its a beautiful phone and works as advertised. The gestures are intuitive if you are willing to get used to them. I loved web os and the blackberry os as well. Always slick and smooth. My advice would be to try it for yourself and go by what you think. Sometimes its hard to gauge from all the reviews. Some hands on time much advised.

However I’ve decided to stick it out with the note 8 as its a productivity power house. Also as a phone its actually awesome. Typing this at work in a known dead spot where all my iPhones have never had a signal to make a call let alone surf the net on my iPad tethered to my note 8. I used to think it was my carrier. I was wrong!

Ive kept the 8 plus but I think it will be a glorified iPod for now as in a real world scenario the note 8 does the basics perfectly ie signal strength, call quality and then a hell of a lot of extras. The only thing ill miss is my iCloud integration but its no big deal.

Hope this helps :)

I'll be honest, I love the Note 8 but the only thing making me think about another phone like the X is that it gets timely security updates.

I have never had a security issue with any android device plus there are free apps to prevent any attacks.

Right. I don't recall any big hacks on android even though they are a little slower with the updates. I do see bug problems more common now on iOS with the updates.

My first phone was a Nexus one which I owned til 2012. I owned iPhones from 2012 until the note 8 release this year. I do own a note 5 but it didn't pull me away from my iPhone 7. I also have an old iPhone 6 and 5. The new iPhones tipped me over to the note 8 and I am very glad. The iPhones just haven't moved in the direction I wanted. No headphone jack. No touch id for the x. No AMOLED for the 8. And the biggest for me was yet still in 2017 no pencil support so iPhones are not at all practical for serious creative people. Apple doesn't cater to those people anymore. My note 8 has everything I wanted that the iPhone does not. I also missed all the customization I get with Android. The Android OS still frustrates me to no end at times and there are definitely areas that my iPhone 7 is better in but it's not nearly enough. I probably won't go back to the iPhones. If the note 8 loses the 3.5mm and iPhones get pencil support in the future it could be a good fight again.

How was the switch? Worth it? I’m thinking of switching to the Note 8 from a IPhone 6+. Interested to hear your thoughts!!

I just made the switch (again) to the Note 8 from a iPhone 6s. I also had a iPhone 7+ but gave that to the wife since I was just gonna use the iPhone 6s.

The last month has been hell with the iPhone and bugs. The battery would die out of nowhere, apps would freeze all the time and it just plain got boring for me.

I had a Note once before but didn't like the price sonce I had 4-5 other mint devices laying around that were already paid off. I have since sold everything Apple off except my SS AW and am very happy to be back to Android and the Note 8.

The screen, S-pen, number row on top when texting, long press punctuation, etc....have me happy again. This is the phone that fits my needs perfectly.

I'm personally not interested in the iPhone X. If you like iPhones and iOS, I'm sure you'd like it. Being lauded add the best iPhone in a long while.

But I'm using the Note 8, though might swap it out for a different phone. Just not feeling the Note 8 to be honest.

Since changing to the Note 8 from the iPhone, anything you miss? It’s so hard to decide because I have had iPhones since the 3GS.....and have had really good success! But, I’m really digging the Note 8 a lot!!

Not really. The only thing that kinda sucks is my wife and 2 kids are all Apple. So no FaceTime, iMessage, AirDrop any more. Not a huge deal, but it was super convenient when I was on Apple as well.

Honestly, all the features of the Note 8 Trump the Apple ecosystem for me. The Note 8 is way more fun and I love being able to make it my own.

Nope...they'll have to pry my Note 8 from my cold dead hands! lol. My brother has the X....I'm not impressed. Same ole' apple, where everything new they come out with, has been on android for at least 2 years. They are sexy phones, but that's all they have going for them. IMHO

Just carry 2 phones. I do. I have an SE, small, can do whatever I need to do with apple. Facetime, imessage, etc. You just have to live with 2 phone numbers. Pick a main # and stick with it to be less confusing.

Personally, i like smaller phones where I can maneuver what I need to do with 1 hand. So S8 and SE fits the bill.

Having an iPhone and Samsung on the daily gives me a constant reminder why 1 is better than the other.
