Note 8 to iPhone X?

I just bought my Note 8 on Wednesday. Took advantage of AT&T's guaranteed $300 trade in offer. This is the first time I've upgraded from a Samsung to another Samsung vs going back to an iPhone. The Note 8 impresses me that much. I ordered my wife an iPhone X (256gb space grey) this morning. The rest of the family is firmly in the iPhone ecosystem. I like being the spoiler.

I personally have never understood the desire to have two phones or th desire to change ecosystems. I have no issues with iOS, I moved to Android in 2011 and find it meets my needs. I also don't change phones that often, I had my Note 4 for 2.5 years.

So no I have no interest in taking the time to switch phone OS.

hell no I have the beast mode phone now ...note 8 . the iPhone x offers not one thing my note 8 doesn't have already. yes that's a stupid question lol 😉

I've always been an Apple user except for Note 4 and, now, Note 8. The reasons I switched to Note 8 were:

1. I wanted change and wanted to try Android again.
2. I didn't like Apple's offerings this year.
3. I hate that notch.

I will consider both platforms again next year but I have been very happy with Note 8 so far.

apple dropped the ball on this one. if they really wanted to impress they should have made their anniversary phone more like the note.

Yes that notch is butt ugly hehe I'll agree with you on that. An it's still the same foot print as all the other iPhones

What do you mean same footprint?

The X is actually smaller than the Plus model (which I prefer because I've always thought the Plus to be too big) yet it has a bigger screen than the Plus. Somewhere between the 8 size and Plus size is the sweet spot with a bigger screen.

I like the Note but I think it's too tall. V30 size would have been better IMO.

Because of the notch, the content viewing experience is actually better on the Plus despite the 0.3 additional screen size. I would vomit if I had to watch a full screen video with that notch protruding from the top like a cancerous mole.

Also the X is narrower than the Plus.

You don't own a note 8 obviously, youve stated you have a house full of apple products . So the question doesn't even apply to you . For me it's butt ugly an that notch is just wrong ...my 2cent your can differ . An yes the over all shape is the same as all the iPhones before it . For me an most in here we'd never ever trade for a iPhone x y are z. My opinion the note 8 is beyond compare

I am so in love with my Note 8. I couldn't give this up for anything. This is the best phone I've ever had. I love all the features it's like my own little world in here lol. I came from an iPhone 6s plus and as soon as I saw this phone during the Samsung keynote I knew I had to have it. I decided not to wait for iPhone X pre orders to start and went ahead and pre ordered this Note 8. So glad I did. Even though I was knee deep in the apple ecosystem with my iMac and iPad I didn't care. This phone appealed to me that much. Even the Verizon guy (who was an iPhone guy) said to me, "your brave for leaving". Lol

My Note 8 is so beautiful and different that the iPhone X will really have to be stunning to make me want to switch again. In my area at least, most people have iPhones and so the Note stands out as a little unique and a curiosity for some. I've received a few compliments on it and one coworker switched from an iPhone to get one after seeing mine so I think there is an "iPhone fatigue" settling in.

If it were between the Note 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus--no comparison. The Note is the superior device by far. However, depending upon the reviews and experiences of those who purchase it the iPhone X might be a formidable competitor.

I can't find a compelling reason to buy the iPhone X. If anything if I was going to jump back to iOS anytime soon I'd still go for the 8 Plus. One thing I think will come back to bite Samsung fans on the butt though is the iPhone's screen cut out (Notch)they love to mock because there's a growing number of rumours pointing to Samsung moving the fingerprint sensor back to the front for the S9 but having a cut out in the bottom of the screen to accommodate it. A lot like the Essential PH1's camera cutout but at the bottom instead

You lose significant screen real estate, the headphone jack, Samsung Pay, the S Pen, fast charging out of the box (no need to spend another $75 on the accessories for it), customization etc etc. No. That would be a huge step backwards.

This. Plus it's really 1st generation in many ways....

When apple bring out a phone with an onboard s-pen that has all the functionality of the one I'm using now, and after the lawsuits have ended, then I'd "look" at their phone. Since the great man Steve left us, apple totally lost their mojo!

They are rumored to make an iPhone with a stylus next year, BUT the stylus won't be built in. It will be like the Tab s3 without a slot for it. Sounds like another Apple fail.

Apple being Apple will make the iPhone, stylus compatible and sell you that stylus as an optional extra at a ridiculous price possibly as part of a Folio Case combo to keep them all in

My reasoning is the same as yours. With me, I had the s1, s3 which I totally dislike, then I tried the note 5, note7 and now note 8. I used the iPhone 1gen, 3g, 4/4s, 5/5s, 6+/6s+, 7+. If it wasn't for the note 8, I would've stayed with the iPhone 7 plus. I don't see no reason on upgrading to the 8 plus nor the X. The X is just to look cool since it is "different" from the typical iPhones, but same software experience.

I'm happy with my note 8.
