Note 9 & Google Photos/SD card Issues

Hello,

I did the Smart Switch transfer from my S9+ to Note 9 and everything transferred fine.

I am having issues with Google Photos though. It wanted to reback-up all the photos I had on my SD card, over 3,000, but it was stuck on a loop saying "getting read to back up" but it never backed anything up. It was stuck like that for 2 days.

So I created new folders on my SD card and moved the pictures there and didn't give Google Photos access to those folders. But when I'd take a new picture on the Note 9, Google Photos recognized it and tried to upload it but again, it would just go on a loop saying the same thing, "getting read to back up."

I took my SD card out and bam, it uploaded the pics saved on the phone without problems.

I inserted my SD card again, took a picture, set it to save on the phone vs the SD card and again, Google Photos cannot upload it.

What's going on? How can I fix this? Do I need to reformat my SD card? Factory reset the Note 9 and set it up as new (I don't want to do this)?

Thanks

Edit: I did uninstall Google Photos and re-installed it and it would not load up my old saved pictures. I had to take my SD card out and log back in to Google Photos for the old saved pictures to load up.

Seems like your sd card is corrupt in some way. I havent used an sd card in some time. I had one years ago that went corrupt and the phone started having issues but when the card was removed it was perfectly ok

A permissions issue maybe?
Do you have Nova installed ? You should check permissions on it if you do. Check settings in the phone in general if you dont, there may be a setting for the sd card

Any chance the SD card was encrypted on the old device and wasn't unencrypted before switching to the note 9?

why do you need an SD card with 512gb of storage? on 256 iPhone 7, I only used 50gb in two years.

Brand new note 9 here. It corrupted two sd cards that I tried, both 128g. Lost many movies. I don't dare try another one. Formatted it in the phone anew but why put loads of content on it to have it happen all over? All I had done was inserted my card into it and bam, every movie went to 0 bytes and gibberish. So I'm stuck with no sd function.

I have the problem , the card is fine as it worked in my s9 plus galaxy. Im also finding that the phone doesn't recognise the format of the photos copied from sd card even though they were taken on the Note 9. Nothing to do with permissions, checked. Best put music on card and images on camera as they get uploaded to google and amazon on mine.

I'm using a 128gb card in my Note that I previously used in my S7. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems yet.
