As for your issues of not being able to charge through your USB port, have you installed the LG drivers yet? That seems to fix that issue for most.

Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

For the first day, it charged. For the past 24 hrs, it wouldn't charge from ANY power source (car, home/wall, computer, monitor output, etc). Right now its charging again.

However, my battery always, even when charging, lists the status as discharging. I get NO indication its charging or not.

This is just a mess.

The only issue I seem to be having is one that I haven't seem anyone say they've had. Since the update, a few times I have tried to wake my phone and nothing. Try a few times...nothing. It is like it turned itself off without my knowledge. Pull the battery, turn it back on. It has happened 3-4 times already.

Saying anything = FAIL to me = FAIL.

;)

GB was a little laggy at first but now after a couple of days/reboots/full charges it's smooth as can be ... or shall I say, smooth enough for me.

The majority of Optimus owners are actually enjoying the update, I believe. There are always some issues when an os of any kind is updated, mostly due to us all being human.

I think Sprint is great for daring to update the Optimus, knowing there will always be those with issues.

Imagine if all future updates were scrapped because a few people complain big about minor problems. That's where I see this going.

Reborn Rom 2.2.4, so I don't think it's update related. I've been trying to figure out what app I have that might be causing this that was recently updated, but so far I'm drawing a blank. I do know that I've seen the Engadget App and the Facebook App both bogging down the CPU long after I've stopped using them twice in the past couple weeks.... but neither was updated in that time-frame.

Regardless, just wanted to say I don't think that issue is necessarily GB related.

Anythings possible, but I never had this issue before. I have used almost every ROM on this site at one time or another and it has never done that to me.

I think you've got it mixed up, the majority have seemed to have issues with the update. Go and visit the Sprint community board, and you'll see. You don't even need to go there, just scroll through the pages here and you'll see.

The problems don't seem big to you because you're not experiencing any of them, hence why they come as "minor". Being human has nothing to do with this, it's call making sure all things are stable before releasing an update. And that's not for Sprint, that's for any technological update.

Just spoke with Sprint support, and my issue (s) appear to have been resolved. I sent myself a test email from my PC, and received notification 5 seconds later on my phone. He basically just gave me this step:

- No access to data services (indicated by the lack of a 1X or 3G next to the Signal Indicator).
Workaround: From the dial pad, type ##72786# (##SCRTN#) and the device's MSL. The device will power cycle and
perform a hands free activation which will resolve the issue. Note: If you do not know your MSL, contact
Sprint Customer Service at 888-211-4727 for assistance.

Update from earlier:

Well, it looks like the instructions were too good to be true. I received an email on my PC, but was not notified on my phone. I'm disappointed, because it was working all day since I followed the instructions.

I guess I need to call them again. Smh

some more issues i have noticed in addition to the 4 i listed earlier.

5) tried to move an icon from one slot on my home screen to another... poof. gone. it disappeared as though i put it in the trash. tried to move another. poof. gone. another icon disappears. tried to grab an app from my apps list and put it in the home screen. poof. never shows up on my home screen. tried again and got the same thing. restarted the phone and then was able to place icons back on the home screen as i should. a little bit later discovered that every icon i had tried to place on the home screen prior to restarting the phone had ended up in my email folder (the folder i have on my home screen that contains the gmail app and my personal email app). how they ended up there is anyone's guess. i obviously wasn't dragging and dropping them in there.

6) had a charging issue with my wall charger which - up until this issue - had worked 100 percent of the time up until this afternoon. i had it on the charger in the hotel and it charged from like 67 to 74 percent and then i noticed it stopped charging. i unplugged charger multiple times from phone and wall and plugged it back in, still no more charging. shut off phone and restarted, charger appears to be charging normally again.

7) i was just about ready to say that it appears Gmail sync was up and running fine again. it appeared i was getting all my emails today on time as they should be. then, as i was reading this thread, i got an email notification. check the time... the email is 1 hour and 18 minutes old.

btw i did make a post on sprints customer service forum, a copy and paste of my earlier post here outlining the 4 problems i was having, and adding some choice words for sprint to illustrate my anger with the situation. i actually got a response from a csr that gave me feedback about 2 of the 4 problems which i was thankful for to a certain extent, though this situation should never have arisen in the first place if whatever idiots over there that decided to push this update through had actually done any QC analysis on it.

by the way, the only other person i know with an optimus S is having lots of problems too. i don't know the specific nature of her problems, it's my best buddy's wife. i called him up and told him not to let her download the update. too late. she already did yesterday and is having myriad issues. she just hadn't told him because she knew he's fly off the handle since he just got that phone for her to replace her previous one which she hated, and she loved her optimus for the past month until this update yesterday.

for anyone that says these problems are isolated... i beg to differ. go look at the sprint forums. you can't scroll 3 lines without seeing another thread about the gb update for the optimus. there is one thread in particular which was 350 replies long 2 days ago (i haven't checked it since then, i guarantee it's longer now).

After the update, my phone didn't recognize the USB either and I had to download the USB driver for my computer. My music player doesn't recognize most of the artists in my music collection now and so I have 960 songs in a folder called "Unknown Artist". Also the black notification bar is very hard to read. Thanks Sprint!!! :(

Wow! I am sorry to hear about all these issues. My son has some of the same issues....I told him NOT to take the GB update and to wait to see if there were bugs. He didn't talk my advice and now he is mad at himself, Sprint, and GB update. All I said was "Son, you are dealing with Sprint...they are always S.O.S" My son said, "S.O.S"?...Yep...S.O.S. = Stuck On Stupid!

I'll add my Optimus to the list of phones that arent working right after the GB update. In addition to the missing word suggestion, having countless SD card removed issues along with about 7 different apps that disappear on their own and reappear once in a while. Phone says their not installed but they are in the applications under settings menu.

So much for pre release testing.

The word suggestion issue is due to them forgetting to include a dictionary for the standard keyboard. If you install your own or use Swype, the problem can be worked around.

The SD card issue affects some people and probably is causing your issue with the apps going away, if those apps were installed on the sdcard. The SD card unmounting issue doesn't affect everyone (I personally don't see it) but I don't know if they have isolated the conditions under which it is happening. In the mean time, you could try different sd cards to see if that alleviates the problem.

Thanks for the tip about the apps being installed on the SD card. Yep.....all the apps that disappear are on the SD card and when it says the SD card has been removed, the apps go away.

I hope they get an update out soon for this.

I've also instructed my son to avoid the upgrade to his phone. Checked last night, and it doesn't even find the update yet...still on 2.2 and says its up to date.

After being frustrated that it wouldn't find the update, I'm thinking now we're best to just avoid it.
