Note9-->Note10+: Smartswitch, Samsung Backup, and/or Google Backup?

Hi folks - Note 9 owner here eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Note 10+. I've battled with restores from Note 7-->8-->9 and am hoping it will be a lot more painless this time around. Would appreciate your guidance on the supporting the following restore. Should I be using Smart Switch, Samsung Backup, and/or Google Restore for this new Note 10+? I have not used Smart Switch yet, but it seems promising from what I've read.

- Home Screen, app folders, and general layout.
- Contacts (via Google and SIM)
- Settings
- Apps and App Data (including downloaded AMZ Music)
- SMS
- Photos (via MicroSD)

I have a Note 8 and a couple years back tried SmartSwitch (with a cable) to migrate from the Note 5 (AFTER moving the SD card from the old to the new phone - where I keep my long term photos and music*).

I use Nova Prime as my launcher.

The only issue I had at all - and I distinctly remember - was some of the widgets on my Nova home screens I had to delete and re-add.

I plan on doing the same thing. Thoughts?

I went from Note 9 to S10+ with smart switch and pretty much everything moved over smoothly. A few apps didn't but no biggie. Plan on doing smart switch again.

I am also going from Note9 to Note10 +. Gonna use Smart Switch for the first time as well. Hope it goes OK.

I have a question having never used Samsung Smart Switch, when do you do this, right after you do the basic setup? By that I mean just go through turning on the phone, login in your Google account and nothing else, then use smart switch? Thank you in advance for any input from people who have used Smart Switch.

Secure Folder you'll need to create a separate back up from the Secure Folder settings and do a restore after you enable the Secure Folder on your Note10

You can back up the secure photo on Samsung up to 1GB or 2 I believe. But I just zipped all of my files password protected and moved them out of the secure folder, and put them on my memory card.

Got mine yesterday. Manually moved photos / video. Smart Switch for the rest (first time using it). Fairly seamless. Some app needed an update, but made it very hands off. Came from a Note 8. Make sure you activate the new phone before running smart switch.

You'll get prompted via notification right after basic setup. I transferred wirelessly. Very hands-off.

I did all three. First in setup the Google restore. Then samsung restore. Then smart switch. Flawless.

I tried smart switch for the first time when moving from a NOTE 9 to a S10+. It worked well.

I opted to not use it for the s10+ to Note 10+...wanted to set everything up clean. But it works well, right out of the box. Just follow the included instructions

I am thinking about using Smart Switch, but my question is can you just transfer Contacts & Messages. I am thinking that is all I want transferred over so I can freshly install apps. I am wanting to do a install that is as clean as possible this time around.

Note 9 to Note 10 Plus: did smart switch but for some reason files (internal) didn't all copy over. Had to redo it. Just check and make sure they are all there before you wipe and send back (if you are going that route).

yes. you can select whatever you choose to switch over. that's what I do. clean new apps, but contacts, messages, etc. all with Smart Switch.

Awesome! I did Smart Switch with my Note 8 but just could no remember what you could do.
