Notification Direct Reply on Nougat

Does anyone know if it's possible to allow Notification Direct Reply on Nougat to be used without having to unlock the device with fingerprint or pattern first?

I want to be able to do this but still have to unlock if I enter the app or somewhere else on the device. Having to unlock the phone first basically means there isn't much point to the feature in my opinion.

Thanks, however I'm not looking to have the whole device unlocked. Just to be able to reply in the notification without having to unlock the device first.

I'm not sure why any phone would allow that. It's completely un-secure.

Some texting apps allow for reply to text on the lock screen. It's an option and the user has to activate it I think, but user has to turn it on.

Most of us don't have to be that worried about secure texts, I wouldn't use texting for secure stuff anyway. I am with the OP, I would like to use reply from notification without having to unlock the phone.

Exactly. I'm not bothered about it being unsecure. I have nothing to hide from anyone so it doesn't matter to me.
