Notification LED on S10?

The problem with the new AOD is that you can't see the colored icons. Who can see a dark blue or red icon? Give me the white ones back with the symbol for the particular app so I can actually see what they are. The colors are horrible and useless.

I can... And actually prefer my AOD in red (also don't like the colored icons for that reason... I want them all red!).

The ring around the camera is a pretty comparable 'solution' to the LED IMHO. Sure, you have to install a very not-user-friendly app and not sure if it supports colors or not, but it's a solution. You can also have just the edges glow and that's way more visible than an LED, although I don't think you can set but one color to that (it's kit edge lighting, it's in the flash notification settings).

I just saw on YouTuber greggles tv that is stating Samsung is working on an update that will use the circle camera the camera cutout as a notification light

https://youtu.be/zW-l9iS7x2A

This Youtuber should have done their research before making their video. The "ambassador" stating this also stated it'd be revealed on the launch date. Said ambassador has been proven on that very thread to not be telling the truth, as they "can't remember" the name of the executive that supposedly told them this.

In other words, don't hold your breath. Shame on the Youtuber for not reading through the thread before making this video.

Actually I saw the thread (I went to the site that they guy posted on) the edit part is new

The "edit part" may be new but that's not what I'm referring to. The thread is 18 pages long and goes into great detail about how that poster was wrong, and how they "can't remember" the name of the executive. Those things were posted a day or two after the launch date. Not "new".

But in the video he was talking about the edit part which is new so it's not a "shame" on the person who made the YouTube video. I believe Samsung will have a notification ring in the sometimes near future.

Here's the thing and I know we all use our devices differently. When ever I had a notification LED enabled it was actually deterimental for me. The amount of notifications I would receive in my line of work meant it was always blinking so it served no purpose. Again, just my use case scenario and the AOD works best for me. I sympathize for those that rely on the blinking light and maybe they can figure out away to put it somewhere else.

Yeah, tbh, AOE is working fantastic for me too as a notification app. As much as I relied on the LED on my Galaxy s6 for important notifications, this AOE app has done the job twice over. Instead of relying on a small, top left, corner of the phone, the whole outside edges of the screen does the job.

I would LOVE to see this app toggle between colors when multiple messages arrive though.

....but it IS "shame" on the person who made the video, because they're reporting false information - it's already been proven in that thread that the person who made that initial post was wrong, and isn't a credible/reliable source, yet the video ignored everything except for that initial post.

AOD was always meant to do so... Since the S10 line is trying to do away with bezels, anything that cannot be placed under the screen had to go.

It makes sense when you think about it - LED notification lights do take up some bezel real estate. I miss using mine every so often but I rely too heavily on AOD now to go back to it.

No it's not shame. There is no proof that the guy got mislead. He was told that there was an update coming in the edit part but he was wrong on when the notification led update will be here. There's no shame.

Also. It's not false information.

Yes but it replaces my Lock screen. It would be great if it didn't do that.

I don't think a 3rd party app can do that without acting as a lockscreen. Might be wrong, but I haven't seen apps that can appear over the lockscreen, and this special permission would be needed to display something like this LED replacement ring. Unless, of course, it was baked into the system.

I could care less about bezel screen space. I'm buying a smartphone, not a TV. AOD is useful for all notifications, but the led is useful for notifying me of specific important notifications.

Facebook messages, phone calls, text messages.

The AOD only option will consist of this.

Discord, discord, discord, s health, AccuWeather, Twitter, discord, eBay, ProtonMail, email, discord, Facebook, discord, texts, calls, voicemail, discord, and Facebook messages.

Unfortunately, discord treats every single channel as an independent notification.

He "was told" - yet he can't even remember the name of the person who told him.

Yes, it is false information. That's what's called an unreliable source.

Then don't buy it. No one is making you.
