Notification LED on S10?

He "was told" - yet he can't even remember the name of the person who told him.

Yes, it is false information. That's what's called an unreliable source.

So hypothetically lets say someone who worked for Samsung that you spoke to said that the LED notification light is coming or whatever. You don't' know him at all. You only know that he is a Samsung employee that you had a conversation with at a conference or something, and you do not know his name or anything like that. Someone asked on a message board if anyone know's an update will be coming for LED notifications. You respond to the person "yes I do. This person
I talked to said it's coming he is a Samsung Employee." Then the person said who is the guy, whats his name? What would you say to the person?

Not trying to fuel this debate (that's decidedly not on-topic), but that is still called an unreliable source.

I've actually adjusted quite well to not having the LED notification. I adjusted the brightness of the AOD, and I'm good.

Agreed. The LED was such a need that I relied a lot on. But, with AOE, I still get the same important notifications I set it for, and it uses the full outside of the screen which, actually, is a huge + over LED notifications, imo.

As the user that replied to you stated - I wouldn't tell anyone in the first place that a random person who I didn't even know the name of told me that was coming. Or - if I did, I certainly wouldn't double down and continue to insist what I was told by that person was fact when it'd already proven to be false.

This user in question specifically stated that he was told it would be released ON LAUNCH DAY. He was never told it was delayed - he has had no conversations with any Samsung employees since that initial one supposedly took place. He simply stated "it's been delayed" in an attempt to save face.

So - yes, this is an unreliable source. If I came here and randomly talked about my conversations with a Google executive, would you believe me, even though I was the only person on the internet making such claims? I would hope not.

I can personally say, I absolutely do not like not having a notification light but love the phone. So when or if they do a fix that would be awesome. I just feel they will since there have been a ton of complaints tagging Samsung.
I do the edge lighting but it's hit or miss if I notice it. Is what it is. Other than that, super happy once I finally figured out settings again and got my sounds back I'd had with my 8+.

After using this phone and using the AOD display I don't care for the notification light. If I get an alert my sounds on my phone will tell which notification it was either G-mail text message, or what not. If it comes it comes, if it doesn't it doesn't.

You sounds didn't transfer over after using Smart Switch when you got the phone? Mine did.

I had sounds set up through Zedge and the ones I had did not. So I had to go back and find them or ones like them. Tedious but oh well.

There are times I can't have sound and I don't like the AOD option. It killed my battery in my 8+. I turned it off. I only get pop up texts that come across the screen. Notification light I knew what was for what. I do like that blinking light but until or if they fix it I'll have to either miss things or wait until I can check it.

Zedge is the culprit here. They started doing things internally to keep you coming back to the app and creating an account to keep your liked media. The files aren't stored in 'plain' MP3 format anymore and not saved in the notifications/rigntone folders (which is why you get either the sound picker and Zedge as options when setting up a notification/ringtone now).

I see. See I just download it from my computer and connect it over to my phone.

Does the AOD kill your battery on the Galaxy S10's? On mine it doesn't. It just I thought the notification light would disturb me and I would miss it but really I don't. I could care less now. I guess that's how I feel.

Mixture of feelings for all so it's all good. I haven't tried it with the S10+. I was so leery after the 8+ I just immediately turned it off. I guess I should actually see if it does.

The galaxy s10 series is on a whole other level when it comes to battery life now. While I used to charge my other galaxy 3x a day, I've only had to charge it 2x a day twice. Otherwise it lasts me throughout if I'm not full on gaming with it.

Reviews and per-usual calculations peg battery drainage from the AOD at 1 to 2 percent per hour, depending on how you use it (if you're constantly tapping it to scroll widgets or have 4 clocks instead of just one or set it to max brightness instead of auto, then you might see more drain).

Anyone here using the Always On Edge app have it randomly stop working? Mine no longer works and I have no idea why.

I have the same issue but haven't cared enough to try to fix it. I may just end up deleting it.

did you recently update it? I did at one point and had that happen. I sent him an email and he said that he mistakenly messed something up, so I updated it again. But he seems to have an update out every single day.
