Notification LED on S10?

Ive only use my led light for two things.

Red is charging. Blue is some type of message (text, game, fb, ig, etc)

You also have the rear flash option for notifications. Won't give you the color option (hopefully that'll be better baked into Edge Lighting and not as buggy this time around), but it's something.

To be fair, the LED, just like the headphone jack, has had its days numbered for a while. Whether we like it or not.
Im not a fan of the rear flash option. Its too bright and gives a feel like you're trying to take a pic. Or at least from what ive seen on iphones.

The main advantage of an LED notification (for me) is I can see it from a distance. You can't with the AOD. I'm not weeping over its departure, but if I had a choice, I would choose to have it back.

I think that this has probably been the last straw for me, or close to it. Hopefully they will fix it by the Note 10, but I would probably pass on a free S10 at this point.

Well, if you don't want it pass it on to me, i'd give it a home.

The new lockscreen works the same way, instead of having an entire notification list. It's a little bubble under the time. You can't see the actual notifications until you click on it
But no way to make that bubble change color so you know what type notification you have?

On AOD you get an icon (and it seems that after Pie it's colored) for each app, so you know exactly what notification you have. Or maybe you can get an LED case if they have it for this model this time.

I 'mourn' the loss of the LED too, but by no means is it a deal-breaker. I lived with that with the S2, I can do this again.

I can't say it's a deal breaker. Every phone is a compromise - it's one factor to weigh. However, I come from a LONG history of using the multi-color LED. I had Blackberries for years (all had the LED), and when they were dieing and I had to move to android - finding something with the LED, wireless charging, and an SD card are what brought me to Samsung. It may or may not be a deal breaker, but for me it's a pretty big disappointment.

My thoughts exactly.

Is having notifications on the lock screen new with Pie cause I am just now noticing it? I know they are on the AOD. I'll be ok with out the LED I hardly pay attention to it anyway. Samsung has a new LED case you can set up for notifications and contacts It lights up the back of the case.

Nope, I just had all the notifications on the screen before.

So my best alternative is to get a case with leds that Samsung will charge a lot more for and might not offer quite as much protection as a Spigen case would?

Is it like the others with a flap that does the effect?

And I doubt that it will be a deal breaker for me either, since the alternative is using my Note 9 until it dies and then try to find another. I do not want to fall that far behind just because Samsung decided to mess up their phones.

I'm just going to have to figure out how to setup notifications so that important notifications still stand out somehow without having to resort to muting every single other notification that is useful, but not important.

I saw that but I don't know if it works with every app nor if the notification is unique for every app.

You can always use the accessibility options to have the flash come on when you get a notification till we get an update or an app to work w phone.

Well I sent my husband a test message through text and FB messenger and on his lock screen he had notifications just like you would see when you swipe down your notifications window and you had to swipe it away. He has a Note 8 no pie. On my 9 plus with pie on the lock screen I see icons for notifications it's different.

Is the color of the apps on the AOD a setting in Pie? Or does it just automatically do that?
