Notification problems

I am getting audible notifications that do not show up on the notifications screen. Even opening an app does not show that there was a notification. It is driving me batty. Any ideas for me?

Is it the same tone as your default notification tone? Go to Settings>Accessibility​, and see if there is a Notification Reminders option. If not, then see if the tones go away if you turn off NFC.
