Notification settings messing upp!

Hello folks! I'm using an HTC 10, and I just recently got the oreo update to Android.

My problem is that, I can't select app specific notification sounds for apps like messages (HTC default) and Google Calendar. If I open my calendar to change notification sounds, it also changes my messages sound, and vice versa.

I can't figure it out, and would like to know if any of you have either encountered this issue, or simply know if I'm just missing some obvious setting anywhere.

I had this problem also. this discussion tells me HTC is not going to fix it. So I downloaded another texting App I like textra it let's you choose another notification sound l. So my default notification sounds off as I'm used to.
