Notifications not working over wifi

So, I got an S3 yesterday, and have set it all up, but one thing I have noticed is that notifications (facebook/fb messenger/twitter etc) notifications do not show up when i am connected to wifi. I have tried restarting and updated the software to 4.1.2. Normal sms and email (non gmail) are all fine.

note: the minute i connect up to mobile data i am flooded with notifications.

please help!!!


edit: found it it is just for my home wifi network (motorola) had this issue before with ipod touch but it resolved itself. is it likey to do the same for my s3??

EDIT: FIXED! turns out my modem's firewall was blocking the nofitications from getting through so all i had to do was open up port 5668 or something like that ( a google search helped me find the correct one!) and they started coming through again

can you please tell me what did you do exactly ? i have the same problem concerning the notifications but they are only coming when im connected to wifi connections
