notifications over wi-fi

In my expansive studio apartment, I still cannot charge my phone in the bedroom whilst receiving notifications on my watch from the kitchen. Yes, they are out of bluetooth range but both connected to the same wi-fi. Why can't my Gear S3 talk to my Galaxy S8 over wi-fi when not connected via bluetooth?

I believe it can, or is supposed to. Have you verified they are each connected and working properly? Do they work over wifi if close together if you turn off BT? BT has also been known to interfere with wifi if both are used together. Good question though

That should definitely work. Mine does. Make sure you have remote connection enabled.

Mine receives notifications when I forget my phone at home and go to work across town. Also, how bad is the Bluetooth on the S8? My S5 has been charging in my bedroom while I've been in the living room easily 50 or 60 feet away through a wall and a floor.
