Nougat battery life testing

Hi there,

Not much has gone into it, I currently have the phone set to 3G/2G (Auto Connect) as 4G is incredibly spotty where I am.

I am mostly on WiFi which helps A LOT. If you spend more time on 3G or 4G you simply have no chance of getting great results, the Modems in these phones eat through the battery at an alarming rate at times when signal is poor.

Brightness is around 45%
Here's what my bar is sitting at:

Here are the apps I have disabled:

I hope this helps.

I fully believe being mostly on WiFi is really what helps, otherwise I don't use Power Saving and I set my Display to WQHD as FHD really didn't make a difference.

Definitely, thanks for that.

I noticed earlier at home that on WiFi my consumption for the first 10% gave me just short of an hour SOT which would be staggering. Though I imagine running certain apps would decrease this, but even if that's reduced a bit it's better than I have normally.

Biggest problem I face is signal, my work has really low signal and I force LTE to get the quickest speed. Gonna try and set up a WiFi hotspot with another device and see what the difference is.

This is what I do, my iPad Air 2 LTE works as my 4G LTE hotspot at home, at work and in my car, it helps a lot.

Shall get to it next week.

Just been doing some home WiFi testing with medium power saving mode and it's looking promising if this rate were to continue. I've been browsing Facebook, YouTube and Reddit for a bit (plus this forum) and I'm pretty happy with how things are currently looking. Nearly 2 hours SOT per 25%. I had varying brightness due to the enhanced video feature being on in the settings.

Nougat has been draining my battery. Android OS is using most of my battery it seems. Just now it drained 16% overnight. I'm about to wipe the cache and format and see if that helps. I never should have updated everything was great before.

Went to look at other threads and other people are claiming that reseting app permissions fixed their overall battery life. Will post my findings at the end of the day.

So it's hit 3 hours with 54% battery
Very nice.

Here's a setup I am trying now to get even further, I will give it a full run tomorrow, I'm playing around with Power Save settings now:

Here's what I have done in terms of Animations:

Yeah? Please do, see if it makes any difference

Through the first cycle I had gotten over 6 hours of OST and the battery lasted a long time. Then recently it lost 20%-30% charge twice now in the past 2 days. Last night it was at 56% then dropped to 21%. Something must be wrong. And I only had 1 hour of OST now. I did download two apps recently so I just uninstalled them now. Also disabled some of the new apps that come with the 7.0 update. I also noticed it's taking longer then usual charging up on my charging pad. How do I reset the app permissions? I noticed there are settings for each app. But isn't there a setting to do them all at once?

Before nougat my battery was terrible. Mostly ruined by a security patch sprint added. Will post my findings ad the end of the day.

On that note i did reset app permissions. Its found in application. I also noticed that youtube is running rampant in the background. When o first updated the phone wasnt sleeping. Now it sleeps like a baby and i gey plenty of life from it.

Today my phone lasted 10 hrs overall with 5hrs and 44mins sot at 19%. Was giing to post a screen shot but i started charging my phone...

App preferences didn't help me, don't think there was an issue for me.

On WiFi I get great battery life, nearly an hour of SOT per 10%

I have to say in my case battery life improved a ton since updating to Nougat.. I only difference in my use is I utilize Device Maintenance at least once a day (even made a shortcut to make it easier to run)..
