Nougat OTA Update

Maybe. But since it appears they aren't pushing it to any 6p phones I doubt it.

Google never blasts out updates to all phones at once, they are always released in a series of increasingly larger stages. It's done to reduce risk. They pushed the first final 7.0 build out to people in the beta program then it vanished for a little bit. But that was no accident. Nothing formal has been announced but I am pretty sure that they pushed it to the beta users, a group of users who won't light fires and sharpen pitchforks if they run into issues... something did, indeed, pop up and they halted the rollout to the larger audience.

Once whatever bug got fixed, they pushed out an updated build, which they deemed fit for wide release. So, as is usually the case, Google publishes the full factory image and (now) the OTA link. From there, you can either wait for your phone's number to come up in the ol' staged rollout lottery, or do it yourself.

Other than the final clause of the final sentence (they didn't halt something that by all evidence hasn't occurred*) I agree and you make my point for me. There's a reason why they rolled it out to beta people first - in case "issues ... did, indeed, pop up" - which is precisely why some of us didn't want to go that route. Yet when people posed the question 'when is the non-beta general public OTA going to be pushed?' it was generally met with (IMO annoying) 'just sign up for beta' responses.

* The "Android 7.0 "I Got my OTA" Thread" in the Nougat forum has, as best I can tell, ZERO reports of non-beta general public OTAs received and hasn't had a post in five days. Likewise, this thread has no reports of general public OTAs received. I'll believe there's a general public OTA release when I see actual reports of the general public receiving it.

I received the NRD90M update through the beta programme, which I removed myself from right after the update. I was wondering, will I receive an update to the NRD90U version? And will it come with the September security update?
Thanks in advanced

I sideloaded the U build onto my 6P yesterday coming from the M build. Works fine.

I tried side loading the U build last night without success. I downloaded the build. Then downloaded ADB fastboot program onto my PC ( [TOOL] [WINDOWS] ADB, Fastboot and Drivers -… | Android Development and Hacking) . Went by the command prompts. But couldn't find the android folder to put the update file into. . I tried YouTubeing it and following the instructions, again without success. Ended up deleting the adb programme. Can anybody recommend a decent adb / fastboot to download

That's the right ADB/fastboot tool.

the OTA file that you download will stay on your computer. Once you finally boot into Recovery (not the main bootloader menu), there will be an option to sideload an update. From there, you open a command prompt and get it to the directory that you have that zip file and run the 'adb sideload <update file>' command. You don't need to push the OTA file to the phone.

You don't need to put the OTA file in any special folder on your computer, you just have to make sure the adb command sees it.

Just download wugfresh root toolkit. Follow the steps and your done. It's literally 3 or 4 clicks and your done once you set it up.

Not in a real hurry, but still haven't received my OTA update.

Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

OK I tried to sideload the file again. The command prompt entered "adb devices" and the device is seen. I have the OTA zip file on the desktop and renamed nexus.zip. I them typed ADB sideloadnexus.zip and I get a load of text across the command prompt:

I also got the OTA update today, and just ran the installation. There were no issues with the installation but, the phone hasn't actually updated, it still shows as 6.0.1! What's going on?

Im was in the beta test ( still enrolled)just got my update via OTA :D

That's odd... The full factory image is NRD90U... One build later.

I wonder if you will get U pushed shortly after.

Looks like the M to U OTA is out for the rest of us. Haven't found the changelog yet.

Hopefully it's more than just the September security patches.

Edit: Looks like it is the same M to T update that others have posted. Bummer.
