Nov security update

I finally broke down and sideloaded my phone with the Verizon version of the update.
It has been almost 10 years since I have had to mess with Android tools to load an update. At the time I had a Galaxy Nexus and Verizon was would take weeks to push the updates.
And the good thing is now next month. If you need to use it all you have to do is download and get the phone ready for the update..

My Pixel 4XL and wife's Pixel 5 have always taken a long time on the optimizing apps screen during an update.

Ok, so at least I'm not the only one lol. I'm new to this pixel stuff. It's good to be able to come to this forum and learn from experienced people like yourself. Thanks for your reply!

It isn't usually this bad or pushed back like this. Typically it is available same time as everyone else on the first Monday of a new month.

That's what I hear alot of pixel people say. I read in the android bulletin that the updates start getting pushed out on day one of release, and that it can take up to one and a half calendar weeks for all pixel devices to receive the update. The November update was released on the 1st and my 5a got it on the 4th.

Don't know if it makes a difference or not. My Pixel 5 was originally a Verizon phone, it's now on TMO. When we were still with Verizon, it would usually run at least a week behind everyone else, when it came to system updates.

Verizon's site states that the update has been released for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, as of October 28th. But still nothing available for us on Verizon. So is Verizon holding it for some reason, or a glitch between Google & Verizon?

I don't get it. My Verizon 6 Pro was updated with the November 5th update on 10/28.

True, I'm not overly concerned. I imagine it will arrive for all models soon, one update isn't going to make my phone anymore secure than it is today. It is odd though that Verizon and Google haven't said much about it. Last year when the November update was delayed for the Verizon Pixel 5, both companies listed it as a side note on their respective update pages, that there was a slight delay. And then it was released a week later.

Did you buy your phone unlocked from the Google store? Or did you purchase the locked variant from Google or Verizon?

Bought the locked Verizon version through Google Store on launch day. Financed through Verizon, again, all through the Google store. Phone was shipped by Google.

By the time it arrived and I powered it up on 10/28, the Nov 5th update was ready.

Didn't Verizon stop with implementing some of their 5G spectrum due to interference with aircraft? They are doing some testing with the FCC. Is it possible they were going to have that spectrum available in this update, but had to pull it back?

Or this is simply the case of us having to wait this one time until around 11 November to receive an update. I don't really consider it an issue. I know it's coming. Or maybe Verizon wanted to wait until after the time change today and we will see the update on Monday.

Who knows?

Verizon and AT&T just didn't turn (allow contact via) on the C-band at the towers till testing is done. The phone was manufactured with the bands in the Exynos 5123 modem used in the Pixel 6. Possibly an update could trigger the phones to work on C-band, but still if the towers are not open to comms it won't make a difference. And C-band coverage is very limited and will be until 2023.

Received it yesterday also. Let's hope that this is similar to the Pixel 5 November update last year, and the only update that is delayed.
