Ok... What does NOVA Launcher bring to the party that the standard Samsung Launcher does not provide....

A laundry list of customizations and over-all smoothness. It's free, so download it and see for yourself what you like or don't like about it. Also, you can easily switch between the two by going into system settings > applications > nova and clear default. There are also apps in the Play Store to easily switch between the two.

The paid version provides a lot more features that are not available in the free, so consider that purchase if you like what the free offers.

It brings consistency too. I have several devices and with Nova installed I get the same launcher experience on all of them no matter what brand or model of phone or tablet.

I also really like how smooth & fast it is.

I bought it solely for the fact it was supposed to be smoother. I saw no difference on my machine.

For me, I love Nova. There are so many customizations it offers. Yes, it is smoother which is why I bought Prime. I use it on my Note 3, Note 8, and Note 10.1 2014.

I wouldn't try to sell you on any launcher. Instead I would suggest trying them, lots of them

Nova
Adw
Apex
Themer
Go

The list is long but worth trying. I use Adw but try every new launcher that comes out (yes I try the paid versions too). A few bucks is worth finding what you really like in my opinion

I purchased Nova. Same performance as Touchwhiz on my Note 10.1-14. Exactly the same.

Maybe the same performance but consistency and customizations by far much greater than TouchWiz.

Actually, NOVA still makes it harder to make folders in the app drawer than TW, It got better recently, by adding the Edit option when long-pressing an app, but it's still a few clicks longer. It also forces alphabetic order in the app drawer, so I can't organize the apps the way I want to...

Once you get setup how often are you making folders. For all the other customizable parts missing from TouchWiz, I can deal with folders.

Perhaps, but everyone's big deal was that performance would improve. Looks like it hasn't for many.
