I've been hesitant on getting the G4 due to the reviews and comments on how the phone's UI is probably it's weakest feature. I was wondering if anyone with a G4 that has Nova installed can share their experience. Thanks!

I can't comment on the stock launcher nor any other launcher for that matter....Nova just works perfectly on this phone smooth, fluid and is real easy on the battery. I'd say go for it!!!

I use GoLauncher and it works perfectly on both my G3 and G4. So if that works, NOVA is bound to run even better.

(okay better than perfect is an impossibility but you catch my meaning)

Nova Prime here, excellent interface. I fiddled with the LG UI for a few hours then jumped right into NP. You'll have no issues at all.

I'll chime in. Action Launcher runs flawlessly. Google Now Launcher, really good but there is some lag every so often. Everything I've read suggest Nova runs perfectly on a G4.

Installed Nova Prime right off the bat.

People complaining about a phone's UI is either stupidity, or they are just looking for something to complain about.

Install Nova, then about the only time you see an OEM UI is when you go into the menus (which are all pretty much the same, except for the amazingly pedantic) or make a call. And the dialer app works just fine on the G4.

Nova Prime working great here too.

The biggest UI problem is the menus and notification shade, which is more a cosmetic than than functional issue.

1) The LG default UI and launcher isn't bad and gets a bad rap for no reason in my opinion. Yeah it has a couple odd quirks here and there but it's quite good and very usable.

2) Nova works great on the G4. The only downside I see is if you like LG's widgets like clock/weather, calendar or tasks which are baked into the default launcher and not available on 3rd party launchers. There are plenty of 3rd party widget alternatives though. I personally use Transparent Clock and Weather Widget, Google Calendar and Google Keep for tasks and reminders.

One other issue with 3rd party launchers like Nova is at the default level you lose the ability to double tap anywhere on the screen to turn it off. However, you can either double tap the status bar, or go with the solution I chose, which is install one of the various Screen Off apps out there then set that app as the double tap gesture in Nova Prime.

Nova Prime is just awesome. I'm brand new to Android (ex Windows) and Nova's customisation is fantastic. Banged in Glasklart icon pack and I'm chuffed to bits with this on my G4.

I've been using Nova since day 1 of my first android device, and every device since, including the G4. It works great and I don't think I could live without it.

Definitely don't let the stock launcher be a dealbreaker, because there are many other launchers out there if it doesn't fit you. The launcher will handle pretty much everything except things like: pull down notification shade still is LG ux, same as settings app, and a few other minor things. But Nova takes over your home screen, navigation, app drawer, and whatnot.

Another Nova prime user here.

Love the full customisation and the smooth interface, using it since at least two years. I instal it as soon as I get a new phone.

You can also set the "Home" button to turn off the screen (via a screen off app) when on the home screen. That way, one tap of the home button gets back to the home screen, the second tap turns off the phone.

Double tap to wake still works with Nova. Double tap to sleep works with Nova prime if you assign a screen off app to double tap in gestures.

+1. Nova here as well. I only care about double-tap to wake, which doesn't go away with third-party launchers, but Nova Prime lets you add double-tap to sleep back if you need it. I like Action Launcher as well, and there's nothing wrong at all with the LG launcher, it's basically the same as the stock Android launcher with a more square design.

Does Nova provide great support and app for the camera? Photo quality is good as default os? How to install?
