Nova launcher

I sure hope not! I would like to see it stay as close to stock launcher as possible with some added tweaks. Don't care for the the screens and screens of customziations.

That's the Apple way of thinking. Limit your choices because they know what is best.

In my opinion choice is good.

Place the zip file in the system directory? Then install the apk from the system directory? I am rooted and used Root Explorer but I didn't put that zip in there.

Click: mount R/W
move the apk file into the system folder
Click: mount R/O

nova launcher is now installed.

Why does everyone assume everyone is rooted? According to the rooted or not poll only half of us in the forum are rooted. Which means only about 10% of all GN owners are rooted. /rant

I see several say to move the zip file to the system directory but you say to move the apk file to the system directory. I don't see any apk's in the system directory. I do see all the apk files in the system/app directory.

There are a LOT of reasons NOT to root. For one it violates the Verizon warranty. That may not be a big deal to some. However, there are a lot of people that have the GN through their company and rooting a phone may be a violation of corporate policy which could result in termination.

Some people have to think long and hard before they knowingly put their job in jeopardy.

Right, that's what I did, but want to make it where I can continue to scroll through apps and then into widgets. The way it is now, when I click Widgets, it brings up a pop up list.I'm sure I am not explaining this right but that is the best way I know of.

Your right choice is good..and I'm all about choice. That's why there are 50 million other launchers that have all the extra option you would ever want. I just want a launcher that doesn't

Hawkeye... I assume you are rooted?

If so, uninstall Nova and go download the .ZIP file from XDA. Use Astro File Manager or Root Explorer to move the .zip file (novalauncherupdate.zip) to the /sdcard directory.

Open ROM Manager. Flash a new Clockwork Recovery. Then select "Install ROM from SD Card". Find the NovaLauncherUpdate.zip file (it'll be at the bottom of the list) and select it. Select OK from the next pop up and the phone will reboot and unzip and install Nova as a system .APK file.

You now will have the proper widget drawer.

I am rooted, I used the manual method I found on another site. I did not use Clockwork.

I will have to do some reading into this.

Thank you very much for this- once I figure the other part out I can get this working. Thanks again.

By the way, thank you again. I downloaded CWM and got everything working properly.

Is anyone else experiencing higher battery use with beta 10? The prior releases were never at the top of my battery consuming apps, but since this release it consistently shows nova at at or near the top.
