NOVA or Apex Laucher vs TouchWiz - Please Help

For some reason I get random freezes with apps like Instagram and Seesmic when I use Apex. I switched back to TouchWiz this morning and haven't had 1 issue at all.

The only gripe I have with TouchWiz is that you can't set it to 'run' with NFC tags, meaning if I want it to kick to my homescreen when I touch my phone to a tag it won't unless I use Apex and Nova :/

I just found out you can quick-swipe to other screens by sliding across the Page indicator. That's pretty nifty :)

Apex is much faster and smoother than nova. Nova kinda binds up switching screens. Apex is smooth like butter.

I tested both extensively and saw nothing like this. Nova and Apex were quite smooth for me - even when running at the same time.

I paid for Apex but then found there was a delay in my wallpaper keeping up with my screens. I now purchased Nova and it doesn't have the problem at all. Luckily I don't mind having two paid launchers on my phone... ;)

I wld leave touchwiz out as it's not so,customizable as others launcher.
if u prefer free version, I wld suggest apex over nova. but I got the paid version "nova". paid version nova is much stabil and friendlier to set up. particularly in setting up tab/folder in drawer.
gesture itself is better in nova. after few weeks of trying out...paid version is the answer for me.
another launcher I tried - go launcher. recently version 3.1.1 hv fee implementation and improvement. worth trying-free. but I find that it's bit heavy in using resources(ram/battery) and advertisement.

I tried both and ended up paying for Nova. I just like the interface a little better. I am not rooted so Apex was a little more trouble and wouldn't let me put widgets on my home screens without root. Nova seems a little easier to mess with too.

Putting widgets on with apex is easy as the old stock touchwiz. You just hold your finger on the home screen you want, pop up menu select add the widget and then pick your widget from the list. I actually find this easier than the drag and drop method

I would like to have a launcher that combines that best of both Apex and Nova. I hate having to prioritize my favorite features... ;)

Is there a way to make nova launcher's widget view look like the one from apex?

Edit: nevermind, just found it... :-)

I tried putting the galaxy clock widget up, but says screen has no room. I have a blank screen too.

Using Nova with beautiful Widgets super clock and Goweather live wallpaper

I am trying to decide between these two myself. I have used go launcher in the past but have heard that it collects personal data (is that true?) I'm still not sure yet...

good stuff! i've used golauncher since nexus s - just got G3 last week and now trying Apex. is there a way to save a screen set up - try another set up and then go back to the original? i guess via back up, correct? would that restore all screen settings, icon wallpaper etc? is there a way to save multiple homescreen settings? perhaps a separate app? would love to experiment with different looks but would not want to have to recreate all the time. thanks!

Once you set up Apex Launcher the way you want to you can switch to another launcher. You can then set up that launcher any way you want. Your setup should be as you left it, when you switch back to Apex. This will work as long as you keep both launchers installed.

FYI, I've used Apex and then switched to Nova Prime. They are almost identical except you can get global notifications on Nova and you can also set scrolling wallpaper much easier on Nova.

thanks - to clarify- i was talking about screen setup within the same launcher. i know i can back up but does restore take care of icons, widgets wallpaper, etc-- basically if i change my apex homescreen to another apex setup will backup restore everything as above? thanks!

Not sure about that one.

I'm fairly new to android and have tried nova, apex, and go launcher. I didn't find a big benefit over touchwiz. The only thing i really liked was being able to re-size and get more app's on one page, but other than that i wasn't impressed. As far as speed goes, you can change window and transition animation settings in touchwiz to make it just as fast. What am i missing?

On touch wiz you can't have more than 4 apps in the one dock. On the other launchers you can have multiple docks and have multiple apps in the dock and even one by one widgets in the dock. There are also gestures for the apps in the dock.

Home screen you can have available wall paper, change icons for apps and add effects for when you go through different screens. Add double tap and gestures for one and two fingers that you can assign to shortcuts, apps, and I think widgets and things like recent apps or Google search.

You can also change the way you scroll in the app drawer, change the transparency, And change groups like widgets, apps, and whatever.

Probably a few more features I didn't mention. Although some of these are . Only in the paid version. I hope j cleared some stuff up for you
