November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

Re: November Security Update

Now I'm vacillating between Boosted and Saturated...

I just can't make up my mind.

Apps like Google Photos should call in the wide gamut and display as accurately as possible, right? I mean, this decision really only impacts the look of the home screen and apps that don't specifically call in the wide gamut, right? Anyone know if YouTube calls in the wide gamut?

My only issue with saturated is it makes white screens bluer. Colors look normal but still not as saturated as the Note 8.

Re: November Security Update

AT&T prepaid, got Nov update this evening 11/6

Re: November Security Update

The funny thing is that my OG Pixel XL was a Verizon version and I seemed to get the updates SOONER than some unlocked Pixel XLs I noticed.

It seems this may be the case with the 2 XLs as well. Now I have the unlocked version of the 2 XL and I don't have the update yet, while Verizon bought ones are getting the push it seems.

Re: November Security Update

Verizon 2 XL, purchased from Google here. No update as of yet for me.

Re: November Security Update

Sitting with a Google Play (unlocked) Pixel 2 XL on Verizon network.... No Update yet.... Mashing the "Update" button only yields "Your system is up to date".

Not in "beta" program at this time....

Re: November Security Update

People need to stop saying Verizon Version or TMobile version. All the pixels are the same version. The update applies to all of them. Come from Google directly and doesn't have to go through extra testing steps. The different number is meant of consistency on the carrier. But it doesn't matter if you have it on a specific network. The reason not everyone has gotten it is because of rolled out updates from Google. Patience people

Most of us understand this... Doesn't mean we want the update any less. Lol

Also ..

So then this new "Update button actually works now" .. Really doesn't in reality

It works. I did not have a pending update on my phone this morning until I tapped "Check for updates", at which point the update became available for me.

Screen Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Updated!!!! (Dang it. Just saw somebody beat me to it)

New settings for saturation. Boosted replaces Vivid, Saturated is added. Not as punchy as the Samsung screen, but Central is pleased with the change.

New feature of the NavBar. It will fade out if not used over time. They don't say how long it takes, or if there will be a setting for choosing the time yourself.

Great news, Google has quickly fulfilled their promise on these issues......

DAMMIT. Thought I would be first since got literally got email notice about 2 minutes ago. Sorry. But I will take credit for the fact that I've titled this with the important info. In the earlier thread it's included, but buried in the discussion:

Re: November Security Update

Beta usually doesn't get security updates -- It will get them if another build of the beta is released but not usually its own separate update for the security patch.

I imagine though that they don't wait too long after a patch to update the build.

There is no Tmobile version but actually as I understand it there are two Versions....unlocked and Verizon sim enabled. Both phones are unlocked but The Verizon model has a locked bootloader. At least that was how previous Pixels were. The updates for Verizon do get rolled out from Verizon but right around the same time as the Google updates....again going by past practice.
