Now that the Note 8 is out, who's sticking with the Note 5?

After reading a few articles about what the 8 is missing and what should be in the s9 and hopefully Note 9, I've decided to be patient and wait for a phone that the note 8 should have been.

I had an excellent conversation with VZ manager. Told them I thought the Note 8 offer was stacked in VZ and Sammys favor. In order to get half off deal, I have to sign two year contract and give up my Note 5. Too much I said! He came back to me and will credit my remaining balance to the Note 8 to lower my price and already credited me the upgrade fee. He'll call me next week to see if I want to order Note 8. I'm still hesitating... two year contract... give up Note 5... wanted this as backup phone. I might upgrade... we'll see. I've been on VZ long time, they don't want me to port out.

A coworker of mine has the S8+, I thought the edge screen would bother me but it seems much improved. I just hope it isn't fragile.

I'm keeping the Note 5. The finger print sensor is in a weird and uncomfortable position, I don't like the edge on a screen, there's no need for a Bixby button imo, and the aspect ratio makes the phone seem too tall and thin. To be honest the Note 8 should have been like the new LG V30. If it had an S Pen, I'd be switching to LG.

I was on the fence... Note 5 has been excellent. VZ gave me additional $205.00 instant credit plus the upcoming $480.00 promo offer for the Note 5 trade... and I could not pass on this. Will thoroughly double check the Note 8 when it arrives after activation and run through. If the promo and credit didn't exist, I would easily keep the Note 5. VZ... made me an offer I could not refuse.

What did you do/say to get the $205 instant credit? Is $205 the remaining portion of what you owe on the 5?

Over the phone. It took some persuading to get the additional $90.00 but they saw I've been with VZ since 2002, and the offer is basically for two more years. VZ gives away nothing unless you ask and push a little or just walk away. That's the only way I took the offer as I like the Note 5. Good luck.
