Number Sync

OK, I have my watch and Numbersync is set up. Seems to be working reasonably well.

One kind of annoying thing that I have come across, outgoing messages sent from the watch do not show up in the messaging app on the phone. Incoming ones do, and outgoing mesages sent from the phone show up on the watch, just outgoing from the watch not showing up on the phone. Anyone else seeing this? Maybe there is a setting I missed?

Just curious, when you send an outgoing message does it give you the option to use phone or watch number? I don't have numbersync so it may be different, and I have the original release, but if I am paired to the phone through BT or Cell data and I select phone instead of watch it will use the phone's number and messages appear on both devices.

Yes it does give me the option. I have been using "phone". I have not sent any using the "watch" option.

Ok. Thought that could be it but guess not. Quick question, when you go to settings>about and select 'versions', what versions appear? Just curious to see if there is a difference. Mine is AW 1.4.0.2377376, Play Services 8.7.03 (2645110-534), Android OS 6.0

AW 1.5.0.2655648. Google Play services 8.7.01. Android 6.0.1.

What phone are you using? I tried setting mine up, but it says my phone has to have HD Voice as well. I wonder if there's a way around this.

Number sync requires special messaging feature that only phones with HD voice, aka VoTE,as well as special code from AT&T to work. So you must have the AT&T branded phone with AT&T ROM to have this feature working.

So what did you have to do on the watch to get it to work? When I go to the AT&T website it asks for a 5 digit code but I have no idea where to generate the code. I'm using the Urbane from November, so it may not be an option on this version. Which seems weird because it's the same watch!

The Nov version doesn't support it because it requires a firmware update, originally scheduled for early 2016 but will never come because it is recalled.

That was the response I was expecting but didn't want to hear! Not surprising though...

We already knew it didn't work back in Nov. Since no update has been release for our watch, it is natural that this still won't work.

Google Voice is a good alternative to NumberSync. It may take require a slight modification in habits, but it's much more flexible.

What I have number sync disabled I don't get no notifications from phone calls or texts from my Galaxy S7 Edge but I get everything else just not my phone calls or text.

Anyone know if numbersync will work with a Nexus 5? The AT&T rep said that I might have to download some app?

It definitely won't work with Nexus 5. I have tried. You need an AT&T branded phone that supports HD Voice.

Woke up this morning and there was a large update for the watch. After the update NumberSync was available! So it looks like the November released watch is all up to date with the current release. Set it all up and it worked perfectly right away. Seems to work fine so far, but haven't really done much with it today...

Also, I noticed that some of the watch faces are slightly different than they used to be. So that's kinda cool.

I have the original release also. After reading your post I went into settings>about and selected 'system updates' and received the message 'Charge the watch to update to MNC40X'. Pretty cool. I haven't updated it yet. I've never been an AT&T customer. I use Truphone. I'm a bit afraid I'll break something :)

Just replaced my Nov build with the new one today. I have to say, NumberSync is not worth the trouble. I now no longer can use watch to pick up phone calls when I use BT only (cellular off) as I always do to save battery. So, in order to pick up the phone calls on the watch, I have to leave cellular on and NumberSync on. Now, if you pickup the incoming call from phone, your watch will have missed call notifications. Retarded

Yeah, found that out the hard way this morning. Had to explain a strange number to my mom...

Soo, how'd that go? I'm thinking about doing the same thing, did you get a refund for the old watch? Were the people at the store weird about it or anything? I kinda think I'd be stupid not to get a new one if I can essentially for free!

Also, kind of agree with you on NumberSync. So far, not impressed. I've missed more texts and calls just today since I've set it up than I have the whole time I've had the watch! Just seem to be very, synced. Also I noticed that I can't get the watch to connect for call audio in my Bluetooth settings, which is really annoying! I really like the whole sharing the phone number thing, but I liked the way it worked before NumberSync. So I'll give it another day or two, but I'm probably going to turn it off, unless I'm missing something that it does really well?
