I'm so upset mine can't go any higher than 729 :( Someone wanna trade? :p

You could always nandroid backup to sdcard and RMA the phone at some point.

I think all of these come with a 1 year warranty from Sprint.

I typically run mine @ 768 mhz, but I know mine will go faster.

-------------

OK, did some overclock checking.

I can run @ 806 mhz stable with normal usage.

I run the stress test in SetCPU and it reboots in a few minutes.

Running @ 826 mhz - it'll run for a bit, then reboot as well.

Stress test will tell your true cpu max speed it can handle.

------------------

By the way - I didn't notice - Set CPU is at version 2.10 now, I was running 2.04 - just upgraded.

Yeah the great part about the Optimus S is the nandroid backups work on another Optimus S.

I would do this but that's a little too much. My phone is really picky. Sometimes it'll run at 748 sometimes 768 but always on 729.

Just FYI, I've got your kernel running on an Optimus V as well. I'm not seeing the same massive increase in benchmark numbers though.

So my kernel works without any modification? Interesting.. So the V is just a S with Android modified to support prepaid?

As far as I can tell, the hardware is identical. I tried Thunderom, which worked but had sprint specific items in it (And the menu and home keys were reversed), tried your kernel, and then finally ended up using the VirginMobile Rom as a base, using a modified Thunderom build.prop for jit and stagefright (NOT enabled by default in the V rom), and your kernel. Stable at 806, and everything works great. Running ~1050 in quadrant. There's definitely some optimization that can still done, but it's good enough for me for now. Thanks for the kernel! It's awesome.

EDIT: Also, as far as I'm aware, VM is only offering the Optimus V with their monthly plans, not the pre-paid ones, so the difference is even less than you think with the software.

The one thing that is different from the S to the V is the Home and Menu buttons are reversed, I used a button mapping app from XDA to fix it, but if you updated the keymap, this would work great for the V. I don't believe LG has released source for the V yet, but this works great for now! Thanks!

So far I've only been able to get 610 quadrant @ 800 mhz but i got a 9.4 on linpack. Phone runs great though no lag and got 54.2 fps on neocore :). Any idea what i should do to get my scores up? I'm on 1.4 Thuderom and this .004 kernel.

Edit: I installed the zip with stagefright, JIT etc. and now I got a 1353 :) This phone is awesome!
How did you get 54 fps??? I want to know everything. Im running the latest thundeROM and #4 kernel occur speed set at 806 max 480 min. What else am I missing.

zefie,

On the V the accelerometer doesn't work the latest build of Xionia, but does work with the beezy's kernel from Thunderom 1.6.2. I searched through the thread to see if this had been mentioned as a problem the S, but didn't see anything (sorry if I missed it). Since the hardware is identical, this seems strange. Have you verified that the accelerometer works with 005 on the S? And if so, any ideas why it wouldn't work on the V?

Subjectively, Xionia is faster and more responsive than beezy on the V, especially with regards to touchsreen lag, so I'd like to run Xionia if possible. I have no hard data to back this up, so it may be my imagination. Beezy's is still way ahead of the stock build and it's pretty amazing what you both have done, so thanks to you both.

UPDATE: Xionia works correctly if you do a clean wipe (EVERYTHING data, cache, etc.) and use the stock VM rom. So, it's not kernel related. Ignore this post.

Works fine on my Optimus S with Xionia 005, although sometimes it is a little over sensitive for my liking. As for the V, I have no clue without one to test.

Yes. I had it running on the VM optimus for a while. The one thing that doesn't work is the accelerometer. I'm digging around to see if I can figure that out, but no luck yet.

UPDATE: Xionia works correctly if you do a clean wipe (EVERYTHING data, cache, etc.) and use the stock VM rom. So the accelerometer issue is not kernel related. still not sure what caused it, but cleaning everything and using the stock VM rom with xionia made it work.

Sorry to zefie for blaming it on the kernel. I've gone through an edited the posts where I said it didn't work!

I just tested this using a stock VM rom, wiping the data, cache and dalvik cache and flashing Xionia and my accelerometer still doesn't work. Can you be more specific on the exact steps you used to get to a working accelerometer?

Optimus v

IS this Compatable with the Optimus V and if not can someone make it compatible and post it in our Section we are slim and few on roms as our phone came out 3 days ago ive read about this rom hell i even use the Kernel from it to Overclock but i would like to have a link to the latest version if its compatible please thanks

hop over to the post screenshots of benchmarking thread and you will see where I posted the quadrant warmup from beezy

Download the Xionia Kernel from the Lego-Rom thread and it should work. The problem lies in the fact the hardware initialization changed between the V and the S, so you either have to unpack your boot.img and edit init.thunderc.rc, or download zefie's rom in the form of an Optimus S boot.img that already has the changes. The link to the kernel in this thread does not have them, but the one from the LEGO-ROM thread does. Let me know if it doesn't work.
