Odd lock screen bypassing issue

I have a lock screen set on my phone to require a pin and never had an issue with it. Only today, there was a short period where turning the screen on was bypassing it. I was listening to Audible (as I've done many times before without issue) when I tapped the screen on to pause playback. It went directly to the main app, no lock screen, not even a swipe to unlock. I thought that was odd because it's never done that before and I haven't updated anything recently. I tried it a couple more times, even turning the screen off with the 3-tap lock method and it still turned on right back to the app. Same also happened when on my home screen before turning it off, going directly to the home screen and bypassing the lock. A few minutes later, it's back to normal.

I'm on Verizon with 4.4.4 stock, with a two minute screen off and three minute auto lock. Normally even if the auto lock hasn't engaged to require a pin, I'd still have to swipe up to unlock the phone. It's kinda worrisome because it allowed full access to the phone for a time when it should have been locked down. Anyone else have this happen?

Did you check Audible's settings? as it might has a lookscreen bypass function. If the app has access to run at the lookscreen, then it wouldn't be remote that it can bypass the lock.

Under the "headset and lock screen" settings, it only has headset and no lock screen settings. There are lock screen controls and an option to disable auto lock, but the latter is not selected. Besides, it's not something that's happened before and was also happening outside of the app.

I didn't get to check things out much because of how quick it went back normal. I.e. I didn't get to force close audible completely to see if that did or didn't have anything to do with it.
