[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

I just installed SuperClean 2.9 on my Fascinate, but I can't seem to find the setting to get the keyboard to stop clicking...

Menu > settings > sounds settings > under feedback, un-check "Audible Selection" which controls playing sounds when making screen selections.

Menu > settings > language and keyboard > and under input method, see which method you're using. Then go to that section under Text settings and un-check audio feedback.

I know that you're talking about the keyboard, but wanted to add the Audible Selection in case you get annoyed at that. Let us know if one or both took care of your concern.

I performed the SC 2.9 install today and love it. I tried running SetCPU to boost performance but it does nothing to help my Fascinate benchmark any better. Does SetCPU not work with this method of rooting/flashing? It won't go over 1000Mhz in the menu slider.

When you are running nonvoodoo your benchmark will not go above 1000, but many people have said that number is largely irrelevant. It doesn't have any relevancy as to how fast your phone is, just how fast it reads files. Running on voodoo will give you a benchmark from 1400-1600, but that doesn't indicate the phone is that much faster on voodoo. The speed difference isn't really that noticeable and most people describe the difference as snappier, not faster. Gunnermike53 has told me the real difference between voodoo and nonvoodoo won't be seen until the devs are able to put out custom kernels and then the difference will be in sound and display, not in speed. So a lot of people who are knowledgeable about it say to basically ignore benchmark scores.
And SetCPU not only doesn't work, it and task killers actually do more harm than good.

Thanks for the response. I've stayed away from task killers but my friend showed me his Captivate rooted with SetCPU and it benchmarked in the 1400s and I was jealous!

Yes, but a few people who work with the batteries in our phones have posted here before about the danger of overclocking our phones. The battery has a computer built in that regulates the charge so it doesn't overcharge which would be damaging to the battery. When your phone gets to 100% charge the computer shuts the charge down until the battery gets to somewhere around 95%, then allows the charge again until it reaches 100%, and continues that cycle until you pull the phone off charge. That's why you can leave your phone on the charger all night, unplug it in the morning and immediately see your accurate battery go from 100 to anything from 95 - 99 instantly. But that protection from overcharging does not extend to the battery being overcharged by overclocking.

I've launched Odin and I got the yellow triangle message but no yellow box is coming up in Odin ..can anyone help?? P

Don't let go of the power button as soon as you see the triangle on your phone, hold it a second or two longer. If that doesn't work make sure of the following:

1. You have downloaded and installed the samsung drivers
2. The battery is out of the phone
3. Use the usb ports in the back of your computer that are tied directly to the motherboard.
4. Disable any anti-virus software during the install.

1 and 2 are the most likely cause of the problem you are describing, but wanted to cover all the bases.

Take the whole file, don't unzip it, just place the update.zip file in the root of your sd card. Don't place it in any directory at all, just find the drive letter associated with the sd card when it mounts to your pc or laptop, and then just place the file there, which is called the Root of the card. This way the phone will see it if you need to enter into recovery mode.

SuD is right. When you connect your phone to your computer and mount the sd card, if you get an auto play window that pops up, just click on "open folder to view files." That first directory that opens up is the root or base of the sd card and that is where update.zip goes. You can accomplish the same thing the way SuD described if the auto play window does not pop up.

You need a custom kernel that allows overclocking. We don't have kernel source code for froyo because Samsung hasn't released it. So, no custom kernels for froyo. We had them for Eclair.

Quadrant is useless though. It's just pretty. 1400 is nothing to brag about in any case on a Galaxy S

You can make quadrant say all kinds of things. This is without even an overclock

Similar Linpack score to stock though.

Actually, you could make quadrant bench even higher than that on Eclair just by downloading an app.

Has anyone had any problems with their alarm clock force closing when you turn the alarm off?

Not here. Besides, the I am not allowed to use alarms in Verizon phones any more. The last time I did, my phone was randomly registering one hour ahead because of some glitch in Verizon's system. This lead me to going to work early one day, whereby I stopped by Starbucks and got myself a brew and a gift card for the "new girl" because we were working on a project at work... now we're married for 4 years, have a 1.5 year old, and she doesn't want me to use alarms any more... in case it happens again.

When I do Batt stat I use terminal emulator step...but while in that step i just have a one quick question....
After all that charging back and forth....When I actually using terminator Do I need to unplug the charger??? or Do I just use it while its connected?

I went back to SC2.5 as I was having too many issues with SC2.9. Seems to be little buggy. I was having numerous crashes, lock screen crashes, reboots, and so many other issues. 2.5 seems to be golden for me.

i cant get past the odin step when i do everything it says on here i get a fail cannot read file line 195 does anybody know what I am doing wrong here
