I am currently on the original EB01DBX flased thru ODIN, then later flashed 2.4 thru cwm. To have the new 2.8 do i need to ODIN the new EB01/EB16 tar file or can I just flash 2.8 cwm? And what is the benefit to having EB16 what were the major changes? Is it still the EB01 radio?

you do know what you are talking about,,,yes same radio same build number...EB16 is froyo for the mesmerize that adrynalyne mixed in, maybe it had better features...you can use either odin or cwm whatever you like... for list of changes check out adrynalynes thread

I was trying to Voodoo and ended up with a complete mess, and then brick, even Odin was crashing on me. I finally went back and grabbed one of your Odin superclean packs, flashed it back onto my phone, and now I am back to good. Thank you more than I can say!

The only possible advantage the EB16 kernel offers as far as anyone can tell is the possibility of being able to use wifi tethering without verizon knowing about it and charging you. If you don't need that ability, you can just flash 2.8 through cwm, but it is recommended you wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the rom

Obin has stopped responding...

Almost at the end of the flash, odin crashes. Have flashed lots from this PC with no changes latley. Donloaded Odin again, and SC2.8 and still crashes....any ideas, i am downloading everything to my netbook and going to try it from there, will report back........ thanks for reading...

ok i see one super clean 2.8 with EB01/EB16 thats says i need to wipe first.. and i see another that says nothing about a wipe.. which should i attempt with my fascinate thats up and running under the EB01 upgrade.

my only gripe with the current version on my fascinate is it has a lot of "cant find" GPS problems.

Sorry I'm completely new to this and I wanted to try this out. So if I follow these directions exactly going from stock EA28, I'll end up with root and froyo? I don't have to go through other threads to go and root my phone? Ahh I guess what I'm asking is, are these steps all I need to get root and froyo. Haha sorry I'm a bit wary going into this, and I've still no idea what roms and kernels are

Got my 2.8 up and running successfully, just flashed over 2.6 to 2.8, already noticing differences. Will test battery life with my high text usage lol

Will get a full charge overnight and will report back soon. Thank you all for your hard work!!

If you are running Froyo now then use the non wipe. If you are still running Eclair then use the wipe but backup first with the wipe.
