Just habit with me but I end up turning off my phone for parts of my day that I am unavailable. Is there any harm in this. Good or bad or is it just a lifestyle thing. What do others do ???

Why do you turn it off...the droid x will do about 220 hours on stand by. Not to mention the fact that is the entire point of having a cell phone is so that other people can reach YOU.

I don't know if turning it on and off is bad, but I just throw it in airplane mode if I want to 'turn it off'. That way you will save a ton of battery and more quickly have cell/data functions available when you need it.

(Maybe being 34 gives me just enough time on this planet to remember when someone couldn't reach me 24/7....and life was just fine.)

I can't put mine down for more than a few minutes without having serious withdrawals :p

Seriously though, I never turn it off, but I am starting to purposely leave it behind sometimes. I was at breakfast a few months a ago with some friends at like 7 in the morning, and everyone of them had their phones out on the table. They would turn them on every few minutes, like they were expecting a call from the president of Facebook or something.

I've never turned my phone off. There's really no need to do it. If you don't want to be disturbed, put it in airplane mode. That way you'll save the battery and not be bothered.

I leave mine on, but I don't always answer it right away.

The point of having a phone is for MY convenience, not so others can reach me whenever they feel like it.

I work in corrections and the signal is horrible inside. My X is constantly searching for a signal (usually in 1X not 3G) thus draining the battery. I love the airplane mode feature!

Is there an auto on/off feature like Blackberrys have where you can put the phone to sleep? My Storm does this every night, thus saving battery life.
Anyone know?

I work in a hospital and the unit I work on (ICU) is the same way, built like a fortress or something. Fortunately we have free wi-fi, so win!
