Official Battery Life Thread

I didnt pull it off in the middle of a trickle charge, I know that takes place. I pulled it off right after it hit 100% and then turned it on.This will be the third time Ive recharged this battery. I also know conditioning takes place. We have had to do that with the LMRs in our shop.

It was off as in power down, shutdown, OFF?

In this case I would think your battery just isn't calibrated to the T. You can calibrate it by burning the battery down until it shuts it self off. Turn it on again, let it die again. Plug it into a wall charger and let it charge until full. Keep it turn completely off still and unplug for 5-10 minutes & plug back in. Do this a few more times then power it on and use normally. But I would recommend to do this after your battery is broken in.

I could be wrong but this is just what I would do.

Been trying to kill it a few times now. Sadly I have two batteries I need to do this to since I got the charger/battery combo from VZW.

Oh and almost forgot, the TB with the extended battery probably lasted longer from 100% down to 99% than between any other % lol

Ok. I think this is my fourth power cycle. Does anyone think that the charge time seems really short?

I have gone a max of 7 hours in the first few days. 4.5 today. GPS off. Wifi on when my network is available. BT on when a device was available. I have no idea how some of you are claiming a 14 hour + battery life. I get about 1.5 hours of screen usage, max, per charge! My only background processes are exchange and whatever else google is running by default.

This is horrendous and I will give it another week or so. I bought the extended battery but have not used it yet.

Well, the first 7 hours, I was asleep... That probably helped. The first drastric drop was when I turned on 4g to fool around online. the next major one was a phone call from my brother. I've been on wifi for most of the day. If I watch a 10 minute youtube video, it'll take 3-5% off my battery.

Yea, I hate when people say to do this, why would you want to prematurely ruin your battery? Fully Draining it hurts the life of the battery. Just use the phone it will calibrate its self. I have never calibrated a battery on my Phone. I dont have any issues. And there is no such thing as "Battery being broken in" its only the OS auto calibrating

16 hours? WTF? there is not a phone on the planet that will get 16 hours. not even a 4S. You do realize that the 4S with dual core and multitasking is not near as good as the 4. in fact it has 50 hours less standby time in its specs. not sure how much less talk time. it is just a fact of life. you are expecting something completely unrealistic. you do realize that the nexus has a 4.65" HD screen right? Four point six five!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HD Super Amoled. im afraid you bought the wrong phone! im also afraid you wont be happy with any phone other than the bland tired 4 you have now.

Just FYI many people on all sorts of Android devices, iPhones, etc get well over 16 hours OFF BATTERY from their devices. I'm not talking 16 hours of USAGE. Please don't get them confused.

Keep in mind, your "standard" micro-USB car charger will NOT likely be sufficient to charge the GN. The one I had used for the last 2 years to charge my BB Storm2 was so weak that my battery would charge VERY slow or actually LOSE juice if I was using navigation or whatever.

Today I went to Best Buy and bought the Rocketfish "premium Vehicle Charger" microUSB. It's 5V - 2amps. It charges my phone pretty fast. $26.99.

Remember, there's 2 parts to the equation. (1) managing battery drain and (2) recharging as fast as possible. Many people simply have no idea that the current charger they have is part of the problem and it can be part of the solution.

Interesting topic, the default Galaxy S2 battery isnt so bad, saying that though both a larger battery and Duracells rechargeable portable phone charger are appealing to me. I'll post results soon, usage varies massively day-to-day though.

I read somewhere to turn off touch sounds and the lock screen sounds as it was causing drain and what not. I turned mine off and it has actually helped. After about 3 hours it just hit 10% down where as before after a hour it would be,

Witnessed this drain over usb charge from my PC at work today. Battery got down to zero and the wallpaper started to look like one of those old film pictures stuck and about ready to melt the film. Various places on the screen started getting real bright and then then suddenly the screen went into a scrambled picture. Much like when the old Vertical hold on the analog sets would go goofy. The phone soon turned off. I tried to turn it back on, came up briefly but noticed it read 0% on lock screen and quickly did the same weird error above. I let it set turned off on the USB charger and got it to 9% before turning it back on again.

thought I would add to the thread I read so much...
Just picked up mine two days ago (had to order my wifes since the store couldnt move her upgrade up)
Today I got about 11hrs of normal use before it hit 10%.... overall im happy...
this is on a standard battery (extended should be here tomorrow) and its not even fully broken in...

now if they could fix the reception Id be thrilled...

many PC's (particularly laptops) will not provide enough juice. I "rented" the Razr for a month befor I got the GN. Same issue (not quite as bad) with battery drain. I ditched the USB charger at work and bought another wall charger. I have 3 wall chargers now... One at home, one at work and one in my laptop bag. Nothing is more annoying than being plugged in on either USB or in the car and watching the battery up like 10% in an hour.

One culprit had been the Facebook app. I didn't uninstall it. But when I am done using it, I go into settings>apps>running and close the Facebook process/service so that it's not lingering in the background.

Right now I am at 13h 55m with 13% left on my extended battery with moderate to heavy use today.

Never heard this before. For my dinc I have used standard mini usb chargers with an adapter as well as Verizon issued micro usb no issues. Will try them with the nexus before buying any rocketfish product

So far my chargers that I used with the Dinc are working fine.

Me neither up until a couple of days ago. I plugged my GN into my car charger and there was no indication it was charging at all. I plugged in my old Storm2 and it would show that it was charging. I did some research on this site and learned that chargers are not the same just because they fit.

The output of my old charger was 600mA according to the tag on it. That's 0.6 amps. From what I have gathered, you need a minimum of 1 amp. The new charger I got is 2 amps at Best Buy. Works like a charm.

I always knew that when I'd hook up my Storm2 to my laptop via USB it seemed to take "forever" to charge. Now I know why.

Moderate to heavy use. Extended battery. Some 4g lots of wifi. I am at 16 hours and need a charge. I feel like that is pretty darn good. By the way l love this phone.
