Official Battery Life Thread

I am one of the ones getting over 24 hours on the Nexus with the extended battery, and it is true I don't use it as much as some here do. However, I read a book for almost 4 hours with the screen at 25% and from the posts I have seen from the poorest performing Nexus they could not do that - let alone go another 12 plus hours after that with some light email, text and phone calls. I am not rooted, have the blue tooth off unless I am using it, WiFi on almost all the time, no special apps loaded for battery life and left all the Verizon apps enabled.

Other than the obvious factor - I don't use the phone quite as much as someone else might - it seems to me the critical factor is how strong my 4G signal is - the tower is right next to my house and another tower right next to my work, so that covers 95%+ of my days since I got the phone.

I actually used my phone quite a bit this morning. Under 5 hours is on the extended battery is not good. Screen on min brightness and 3g. Gps on, wifi off . What else can i do? I just surfed the web and did some facebook.

Take a look at your cell standby and what percent of the time you are without signal.

Well I have been troubleshooting the problem myself for quite some time since I was only getting about 7 - 8 hours on the extended battery. Specially my battery was drained 50% during nighttime. After playing with all the tips in this forum and nothing seemed to work I start to play with my emails. I turned off auto synk for my corporate email and right away I noticed the differennce. So far with light use it has been 21 hours and battery still at 39%. I will start playing with different synk options and will see if problem is not as bad as it was. I was really frustrated with the problem and was almost on the verge of exchange with the razr. No anymore. This is what work for me after week an a half of troubleshooting including factory reset. Finally I'm a happy owner of a Galaxy Nexsus...

I had a major issue with my exchange..
everything worked fine, then all of a sudden battery was drainning like no tomorrow and excessive heat at the top of the phone...
finally found out that the exchange app had used 500Mb of data in the back ground in a few hours... once I killed it all was good.....

on a side note, on a really light day, my wife got about 14hrs on her extended battery and still had almost 70% left over...
cant wait to get mine...
Im just thrilled I can easily get through the day on normal phone use

WHOA. Downloaded a simple data toggle widget to my Homescreen. Battery life no longer an issue at all. Unless I mess around with it a lot all day. So simple but makes a world of difference. Wondering if there is a similar toggle for LTE/CDMA.

Finally getting decent battery life. Started using JuiceDefender Plus a few days ago. While I don't like having to use it the results are definitely noticeable. Also not using the facebook app much. If I access facebook I do it through the browser a majority of the time. The facebook app is a battery hog.

I've had the Nexus for about 2 weeks and for the past few days I have been draining the battery completely down before recharging. Today, I took the phone off the charger at 5 am and it's still at 56% (with my normal usage) at 2:30 pm. I'm shocked right now. I usually have to charge my phone around 11am everyday.

Today is my first full day with the phone. I took it off the charger at 8:00am this morning and decided to see how it did going to work and keeping LTE/4G on the entire time.

I've done a good amount of texting, light facebook and twitter, some words with friends, and 1 youtube video. No bluetooth, no GPS, no Wifi, 1 gmail and one yahoo email set to sync.

I got the critical battery level message at 2:30pm precisely. So 6.5 hours on moderate use with LTE enabled the whole time at about (-103db at work and -83db while out at lunch).

Normal? seems like it.

going CDMA only tomorrow to see what changes it brings.

here's my battery life so far, at first I was getting more around 8 - 10 but as I've calmed down and am using the phone more normally it's improved. this is normal - light use and if I hadn't been going to bed and plugging in I would have easily hit 18 - 20 hours.

I'm a happy camper, 32 hours off the extended battery with light use. Mostly call and text. Once or twice search on the web. Checked my gmail frecuently as well as my personal email. All I did was set my corporate email to synk every hour instead of auto push. Before I was loosing 50% of the battery while I was sleeping.

First, I admit I'm a noob (to Android - first step was to get the GN). Should it be this hard - constantly turning stuff on and off, not using 4G, keeping the screen barely lit? Anyway, I've done some homework and know (I think) what to use and when, so today I was at work from around 9:30 to 4:30 (yep, holiday hours) and got the following:

This was with Bluetooth on just for the car ride (30 min) to work, wifi off, 3G only and some texts and one brief browse on the web. No video and then later a short (3 min?) phone call. A bit shocked to hit 14% on the car ride home. I've drained the battery pretty far (but not yet to zero), but I'm thinking there is something obvious here. Can post other shots if helpful, but I didn't use the screen much (and it was at auto adjust - usually much darker than I would prefer). Suggestions? I'd hate to have to get an extended batter, or carry around a backup (and need to routinely use it).

I know BT is a battery drainer so maybe try plugging in while in the car and using it. unlike GPS that is only using juice when you see the icon in the notification bar BT is always using juice when turned on. also if you have wifi at work use it, I am on wifi at home and work and that is less work on my battery since my phone has weaker reception at home and it's even worse at work.. old buildings?.. :/ anyways, these are my tips.

Can you post up a picture of the graph to show the details of the use? Have you tried cycling the battery by charging it to 100, drain to almost dead, and then a full charge with the phone off? I did this a few times over night after I got the phone and it seemed to make a difference.

I relied on juicedefender plus with the Dinc after a year, but now I don't have it installed with the extended battery.

Hey ChevyGuy - sorry, I thought that I had posted the picture of the graph. Not sure what I'm doing wrong w/ the attachment, but will try again. (See below.) Wicket, good point on the BT, but it sucks that I need to use a charger in the car for that. (Makes a conflict w/ my radar detector.) As for the office, the building is pretty new and we have great reception. I'd prefer not to use the wifi at work, as I'm in a regulated industry and that results in limited web access. (Example - gmail won't work on the network.) Thanks though for the suggestions!

Sorry, I meant to say the graph details. They are brought up by tapping on the picture of the graph itself. I am just curious to see if there has been any time without signal (which can also be determined by tapping on cell standby).

Was this basically with screen off most of the time? Any sort of use on my old Gnex and I would be closer to 50% for display usage.
