[Official] Battery Life Thread

what's a rogue app? sorry for the dumb question... I'm a newbie

Sometimes apps are poorly coded and don't behave correctly. Like they might not shut down properly or turn off connections when they aren't needed anymore.

That's how an app gets considered to be "rogue" It kinda does it's own thing when it's not supposed to. :p

My wife's battery is at 56 percent after 1 day 5 1/2 hours.

If you're rooted don't worry about it. It's taken care of already in the ROM you're running.
Well, I'm still dealing with battery life issues. Mine drains pretty quick even with the settings I have on SetCPU. I'm guessing either a rogue app or just the fact that I have Facebook running. I'll check things and find out for sure.

Where do you go to get to that screen? I'd really like to see what I have running when I do a clean boot.

I'd say for an Android phone this phone has excellent battery life. Usually the end of the day I'm hitting near 40% with moderate use. Not too bad. I'm very satisfied.

I'm coming from BB also and I'm a little disappointed about the battery life. Still, I use my phone with no refrains. Hell...that's why I got a smartphone, to use it not setting a record in battery life. I can do that with a featurephone.

My display takes up around 65% of the battery. I put the brightness low and turned off the animation. Any ideas on how i can improve that?

Well for me I have no widget ATM or any animation also blacklight very low here also. I am still testing things as ill post more info of moderate usage later on. I am trying to OC to max 1708mhz and benching few things so lets see how things turn out. But my batter consumption is very low due to efficient memory.

That's 65% of the total battery being used. For example, if you've used 20% of the battery total then the display has used 65% of that 20%. You can't improve that at all or change it. If you did more with your phone you might see other usage go up, but it is what it is.

It doesn't mean that your display eats up 65% of total battery life.

stvo you may want to try JuiceDefender opposed to that as you can have fixed connection interval for data push. This would help battery consumption if you have alot of data intensive apps.

That's because you aren't using 3G on GMS only. I'm not sure you even get EDGE with that setting.

I use GSM all the time and always get EDGE. It really does help battery life. If your in an area with crappy EDGE then you'll get GPRS/GSM. If your in a spotty 3G area keeping it on WCDMA also helps with battery life because its not constantly looking for the best connection. I sometimes keep it at 3G at my house where we have very spotty 3G service and the connection remains on 3G but overall signal quality does go down.

battery life

seidio has just released a extended battery for the mt4g... so far under extreme heavy use... went through the whole day... 10 hrs.... and was showing 64% remaining... for me, that was a great increase!
