Official Cyanogen 6.0+ Thread

I have been using cyanogen since june. Mostly all nightlies. I have never been able to send more than a one page text message. It just locks up for like ten minutes. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone found a fix?

Same problem, and i havent seen a fix. i just copy what i wanted in the second page, and paste it on a new message.

Flashed Cyanogen 6.1 ROM, but after the reboot, the Android Market app was not installed. Went through the process (by-the-book) two times, but no joy!

Can't add my Google account without the Market app. How can I manually add it?

Add Google Apps, it's a separate zip file that needs to be flashed. copy it to your sd card and install the zip from here: HTC Evo - CyanogenMod Forum

You can also do this via Rom Manager when you install a new CM rom, it will have a pop up that says "google add-on" and just hit the check mark.

Any getting "flaky" GPS performance with 6.1 stable? By flaky I mean taking a while to get a lock while in Gmaps or GPS application such as foursquare.

I was receiving same types of flakiness with 6.1 RC2, but not with RC1.

Thanks. That works, but why in the world would the devs state that Google Apps was an optional add-on? Not realizing what would be missing from the CM6 ROM (stable), I initially elected not to include Google Apps.

My issues with CM6.1 Stable (with snap 7.6)

Can someone confirm whether my issues are altogether unique to my device, or are these issues consistent with what others are experiencing :

1. Snap kernel works with this ROM, but enabling turbo creates an infinite reboot loop.
2. The Weather Channel widget fails to load at reboot. That widget selection disappears from the widget selection list after the launch failure. The Weather Channel app itself is unaffected. Only way to get the widget selection back is remove the app and and then reinstall it. After reinstallation, the widget will launch and display without out issue. On reboot, however, it always fails to load.
3. More than one page of SMS text never gets sent
4. Phone ringer rings inconsistently. At times, it rings once, then stops. Other times it simply does not ring at all. And then other times, while the ringer is silent, phone does vibrate indicating incoming calls. Most times for incoming calls, neither does the phone ring, or vibrate.
4. When the screen times out, wifi connection drops. Have to turn wifi off, then on again, for connection to be automatically connected.

I've followed all the ROM installation steps to the "T," including failsafe installs. I've wiped my phone 6 times now, but to no avail. While I can live without 4G, HDMI, and can tolerate the occasional failed txts and wifi disconnects, I certainly can't accept the issue regarding the mute phone ringer.

I do like CM6. I've personally found it snappier and more fluid (even without Turbo), than previous ROMS. I'm disappointed, however, that it doesn't appear to be as stable as promised.

I can help you with #4. Go to wifi settings and press menu --> advanced options. Change the wifi sleep policy to "Never". As for the snap kernel, version 9 is in the works so i'm waiting for that one. #3 Happens to me also, I believe its a known issue because others have complained about full sms txts.

Thanks for that, toprock! It worked. Come to think about it, it does make sense to have wifi shut off on sleep, as a default option.

But with the other issues remaining (and being experienced by a good many people), I'm curious to know why this mod is labeled as "Stable." It may be "stable" in as much as it doesn't hang or crash, but it certainly isn't ready for prime time. Can anyone else confirm the phone ring tone issue I reported earlier?

I'm on a Asus notebook. How do i get it to recognize the usb tethering? It works fine on the wifi tethering though.

When I first got my EVO I rooted and with went DC, then unrooted...back to Root again yesterday and flashed CM6. Now trying to get the nerve to flash the Snap kernel...what are the benefits of using this Kernal over what is already used on CM6?

In my opinion, i wouldn't recomend for you to flah snap if you are running CM6.1.1 or CM6.1 both have the new kernel.

the snap team is working on a new kernel, why do you to flash a new kernel?

HELP! About ready to go back to stock ROM from CM 6.1.1

My last remaining "real" issue with CM 6 is the phone ringtone issue. Incoming calls either don't ring, or they only ring once and then no more following that. I hope that by flashing to 6.1.1 the problem would be resolved. No joy.

Since it seems like I'm the only one in this forum experiencing this problem, I think I'll go back to the EVO stock ROM, and see if the problem persists. Perhaps it's a hardware-related. Unless somebody on here as a suggestion, I'm about ready to pull the plug on 6.1.1. (I should note that whether I flashed the snap7.6 kernel or not, I still have the problem.)

I'll report back momentarily.

which hardware version do you have?
004 is not supported by CM, HTC has not release the source.
did you flash any kernels?

if you flash to CM6.1.1
wipe factory,cache and delvik

Hardware Version: Not sure where I find that info?
Did I flash any kernels? Yes. As I said in my previous post, I flashed snap7.6

UPDATE!!! SUCCESS!!!

I decided to flash CM6.1.1 one last time (probably my 7th attempt), following the same procedures as before, but without flashing the snap7.6 kernel or google apps. (About an hour ago, I also flashed without the kernel, but the phone ringtone problem persisted.)

I can't explain it, but the phone now rings (audibly) consistently. I am stoked. A kicking and (for all intents and purposes) "stable" Mod. Hopefully, future "stable" updates won't be this frustrating!

Success short-lived.:(

After reinstalling my apps (just apps and data; not system) using Titatium Pro, I noticed the phone ringer stopped working. It rang just once first, then subsequent incoming calls just vibrated.

In the middle of restoring stock rom. Let's see if this is hardware-related, or CM6-related.

Stay tuned.
