Official Droid X Froyo update thread

applied the update this morning - was sluggish for a good hour, rebooted twice - and things got better - ran quadrant standard right after download - 980, ran it a few minutes ago -1385. go figure. *Edit - never mind, I see the text problem too!* and my camcorder works. Only problem so far is the unlock slider is not as smooth as the old one and gmail would not sync - the 2 reboots solved the gmail problem.

After downloading 2.2, everything was working beautifully for a couple hours. Now LP has been force-closing and my homescreen has been freezing. I did several battery pulls and restarts and it's still happening. Anyone else experiencing this???

My LP+ has been perfect. Its about the only thing working.

Here are the issues that I am having:

I cant get the phone to charge, been at 20% for well over an hour even though its been plugged in to the wall.

WiFi will not work on my home network. I have tried every change you can to the network, will not work (WiFi worked perfect at coffee shop).

Fennec is very very slow.

No SlingPlayer.

ATK doesnt work.

I cant stop many blur programs to die! Social Networking, Weather, News, Messaging, Backup Asst.

Anyone who knows any fixes, please share!

Yes, task killers don't work in Froyo and its probably raising hell as I type. Uninstall, reboot and reevaluate.

updated this morning at work - started the update during my morning break and let my phone sit without touching it for two hours. When I picked her up at lunch everything seemed to run fine. I use LauncherPro and that seems to be working fine. Gmail updated without a hassle. I think it reset all my notifications, though....gonna hafta straighten those out....

I have a friend who also has a Droid X, and when he downloaded the update it froze up his phone on the reboot....He was headed to the Verizon store last I heard...for future reference, is there a way to do some sort of hard restart/restore if a phone is stuck in the boot cycle (it's got the 'M' on the screen....forever....)?

Favorite feature: being able to stream Amazon Unbox to my phone with Flash 10.1 - yeh, that totally rocks!

still nothing..

I'm sitting next to a co-worker today around 14:30 and I ask him if he's gotten the update yet. He had no idea what I was talking about so I told him how to go get it and it started downloading.... me, nothing:mad:

we got our phones the same day:mad::mad::mad:

So settings is the only way to kill the annoying crap that runs for no reason? Is the only way to kill off the blur crap rooting?

Turn on WiFi. Leave it on. Do a normal power cycle.

If you mean "Running services", then yes. But you shouldn't and why would you want to kill the update services that make the phone function correctly? Blur gets a bad rap. Kill only those processes that you KNOW you don't use/need. When in doubt, let it live.

As for rooting, users choice. The majority (though certainly not all) of today's OTA's problems come from those who rooted/rolled back/pre-released, etc. In other words, user error in manipulating complex processes without understanding all of the risks/rewards.

The froyo update has gotten an unjustified bad rap as a result.

I was on a device that had never been rooted, had only been activated for a day and I seem to be having every issue. Also, using LP+ means that all those widgets and blur apps are worthless to me.

I still havent heard anything about message musical chairs, no comments from VZW or Moto on the issue?

Yep, I'm on LPP as well and love it. Any luck after removing the task killer? I suggest a battery pull after removing ATK to maximize chances of success. Froyo clearly really dislikes task killers...

I had a little issue. The update went ok I thought but I forgot to unroot with easy root. Now when I go in and root it says I have it but drocap, and barnacle don't work. I dl terminal emulator and typed in su and I do not have it. Should I uninstall easy root and re-install? I have all my apps pretty much backed up on appbrain, factory reset? I did a battery pull but I didn't expect that to help. I am really tired but does easy root not work with 2.2? That would make complete sense and I am an idiot.

Check that Superuser.apk is actually in /system/app

I am not impressed with this update. All the same bugs from the leaked version still exists with some new ones as an added bonus.

I go to play music only to find that tracks are still out of order, and now it won't play it at all unless I reboot.
Phone rings, I try to answer but the touch screen doesn't respond, a minute or two later it works fine.
Wifi doesn't autoconnect to my WAP anymore like it did in leak 1.

Wish I didn't update, I want to go back to the leaked version until the bootloader is cracked and some stable ROMs come out. Moto seems to have dropped the ball.

Updated around 1pm EST...still no problems ( except the text message order). I am also running ATK which seems to be working perfectly fine. Text logging is annoying though.
