Official Droid X Froyo update thread

-Everything seems slower, as most users have pointed out.
-Swype keyboard is plain and ugly. Personally preferred the previous texture.
-Swype now causes Touiteur to flash when swyping a tweet. Had some resolution issues.
-Broswer does seem a bit faster.
-Minor visual tweaks (Added battery meter in Settings, contacts now have borders around them, new layout in Gallery, etc)

Will update when I play with it some more, if anyone cares.

Woot, unrooted DX running Froyo (official). Downloaded Flash (or the update, whatever) and I'm good to go.

I'm not incredibly impressed with the benchmarking tests, but it's still an improvement:

Quadrant: 1394
NeoCore: 42.7 FPS
Linpack: 14.308

Why is it when I look at the top scores compared to other phones the DX's are so much lower?

Anyways, at least I can view Flash sites now, take that iphone.

I messed up!

Cannot upgrade. I rooted my phone and took off some apps that I did not want. In the process of doing so I accidentally deleted android market as well. Here another thing that shows my stupidity. I did not back up my phone like I should have. I have unrooted my phone and did a factory reset. Attempted to update many time without success. It tells me "update failed". Is there anything I can do to resolve this or am I screwed. I appreciate any help or constructive criticism.

Finally got it loaded. Actually works great for me. Everything seems super smooth. No lag. Love it so far.

My 6 month old son woke up for a bottle around 330....as its warming up I see my phone resting on the kitchen counter....i figure, what the hell, I'll see if the update is available....obv it was! Hit download and said to myself, I'll have froyo when I get up!

No problems here, everything seems to be running nice and smooth

For those having lag issues, are you having those within a few mins of installing the update? If so, give it a few more mins. As soon as my update installed and the phone reboot, the UI was VERY sluggish. I would swipe and it would register 5 seconds later. I let the phone sit, came back to it, and everything appears to be fine now. I noticed a number of widgets that were querying the web and phone for their status, and that was just eating performance. Now that everything has loaded, the phone is back to being smooth again.

Downloaded and updated with no issues so far. I do wish the Swype keyboard were still black, but that's nothing.

I have deep concerns regarding what we're going to talk about now that we have official Froyo.

I downloaded my update around 6 am. I haven't much time to explore, but no issues so far. Scrolling within the task launcher and system menus seems to be quicker. I like that the Swype keyboard keys are now light.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Finally an update to the media player. No longer displays 01, 02, 03... in front of the track titles.

I thought my X was pretty cool, although I returned it cause Verizon's service sucks. But man, it seems like a lot of complaints on here. I was having remorse for not sticking with it. But not anymore.

I think the update has been pulled. Went to the check for updates area, and it just continually searches

EDIT: now getting "check update not available at this time" >:(

on leaked 2.2

I realize that Motorola warned that leaked 2.2 users may not be able to update, but has anyone confirmed if we can go straight from the leaked 2.2 to the official 2.2 without issue? or do i need to revert to 2.1?

Anyone figure out how to turn the slider lock off. I have to use a pin to unlock my phone per company policy and it is very annoying to have both.

Ok, did anyone notice that the update came out on the last day of Summer? or was it the first day of Fall. Was it planned or is it all a giant mystery?

I think there are Droids involved and we are not in control. I'll have to prepare my family for the onslaught and it's not going to be pretty. My first day of vacation and I get hit with this massive intrusion to my life........ok, wait a minute........update's done and everything looks fine. Got to go test it now. Thanks for reading, I had to do something while it was updating, so I wrote this. :-)

Few things I've noticed.

*I preferred the black swype keyboard

*Market is SLOW.

*Internet is much faster.

*Quadrant is in the 1400's.

*Like the changes to the gallery and the on screen camera button.

Question: Is auto app updates selected by default? I would prefer to manually update them. Sometimes I don't want to update right away.
