Well. Seems to be impossible. Keep getting the "could bot be upgraded" dialog box. Four times in a row. Usually after about 30 minutes.

Whoever created Kies needs to go fall in a hole. A very deep one.

Have you tried reinstalling Kies?

my phone is broken. i used keis mini finally got the update tab to open up and waited for froyo to update. it failed mutliple times. I tried using emergency recovery. did everything it said and the emergency recovery failed on me. what can i do now (besides throw this worthless at&t phone in the garbage) to save my phone. it is literally stuck on the downloading screen. tried everything recoomended so far.

Yep. Now, every time I hit "update", I get this....

It appears to be a Windows 7 64-bit issue. From what I've seen on other forums, there's a million hoops to jump through if you're having issues on a Win 7 64-bit install.

Seems I'll just have to be happy without the update.

Yes. Several, actually. But I don't know anyone who uses a 32-bit OS.

They're all on Windows 64-bit? Didn't know it was that popular yet.

Some people have gotten it working on 64-bit, so I would try another computer. Worth a shot.

Phone went to black screen after att logo, so pressed all the keys at once to reboot, selected to wipe all my user data, then restarted.

Other than having to wipe all my user data, the update went very smoothly. Used the superonclick to root, all done!

Holy crap! Installed Kies Mini on my wife's Win 7 64-bit laptop less than a half hour ago. No issues at all. I'm already updated to Froyo and enjoying the new features, icons, etc.

Yes. If your phone can't boot, then you don't really have a choice.

im gonna try running keis on my labtop first and hope that i can save my phone from the disaster named froyo.

I was able to install everything successfully. No issues at all. Froyo update took less than 15 mins, the only thing that took longer was updating Keis and downloading the new firmware.

Froyo update has been good to me so far. Actually prefer this update over some of the ROMs I was using before going back to the updated stock. Can't wait for the 2.3.2 update.

Well, been trying to help my sister upgrade the captivate I gave her after I got the Nexus S. Everything we tried failed because the unregistered device error message kept popping up. She is using a XP 32 bit laptop, tried reinstalling Kies and the drivers several times. Short of a hard reset, not sure what else to do. Even tweeted back an forth with Galaxy Site Support and everything they suggested failed. I'm wondering if all the flashing while I owned the phone messed it up, because when I set it back to stock JF6, I couldn't get Kies to work to put JH7 on the phone. Any insight you guys can provide is appreciated because I'm stumped.

I think you'll need to buy a new device for that update..or flash it

I've looked through the pages, but can't find one that addresses my issue.

Updating for me is a nightmare, because I keep getting the "MTP error," that is, Kies can't find my device because it can't install the drivers for it.

I have gone to numerous websites following numerous different steps, among them one suggested connecting in MTP mode and extracting some "FileSearcherForKiesFix", but my PC wouldn't find the phone as a hard drive letter. Another one suggested not letting Kies update, so I uninstalled, re-installed with my Internet disconnected so it couldn't update, then tried again--but again, no luck.

I've been at this for 4 hours, and am still at square 0, and ready to burn the freaking thing in a fire.
