Mine changed to preparing to ship overnight. Still shows deliver by date of 4/21.

Could be AT&T just locking in order because you can no longer cancel order in this status.

Noticed that as well. Would be AWESOME to get them that early. Though, I ordered mine from Verizon, so carriers could be different than directly from Samsung.

Pre-ordered thru Samsung last Wednesday. Hopefully it arrives early and it doesn't have the same issue I had with the Note 7.

Did anyone else get out of having to pay the 120? The girl at Verizon was kind of surprised when the page opened up and showed It wasn't being asked of me....Only the sales tax on the device I had to pay. Which begs the question, Will I still get charged the 120 upon shipment...Or is the verizon rep accurate in some people having it waived.

Not really. I have good credit and a good credit line with Verizon. That's what the down payments go off of. All I paid was the taxes

however, i'm wondering what differences there may be, if any, between buying from Samsung.com versus TMobile/Verizon/ATT?

from the tone of that article, it almost seems as though they are strictly talking about Samsung.com's own shipping dates/arrival dates as opposed to cell providers' shipping dates/arrival dates.

is my understanding correct?

From the way I read it, this sounds like Samsung direct and not the carriers, but that's just my guess.

Has anyone that pre-ordered been able to go onto Samsung promotions website and get the VR ordered or does that need to wait until the phone comes?

I stopped by the local BB this morning and played with them. The S8 is a little skinner than my S5 but the S8+ feels way to big so I pre-ordered from Verizon this morning...Can't wait!

You have to wait for the phone because they usually as for the IMEI number.

that might be Samsung thing. Did you buy it outright or making payments? The US carriers wait to charge when they are printing the labels and shipping

I bought it outright but haven't received any updates as far as shipping goes.

Same here. When I ordered it the confirmation page and confirmation email said I would be emailed when it's ready to be shipped out.

I remember during the Note 7 pre-order how many T-Mobile customers were upset because they didn't get the phone a week early. Some were threatening to leave T-Mobile, others were constantly calling or contacting T-Force to find out when the devices were shipping. There seems to be much less anxiety this time around, though I am sure that will change in about another week. The first person that says their card was charged or that they received a MyUPS notification will set off hysteria.

There were two parts to that though. Some expected to receive the phone pretty early due to what happened with the S7 release but they shouldn't have expected it. The other part was they charged our cards and sent notifications almost a full week before we got the phones. We were told that our cards wouldn't be charged until the phone shipped, so the carrier created that issue. As long as I get mine on the official launch day then I'll be happpy.

my prediction for TMO anyway is they will start charging accounts starting 4/7 and through the weekend. Then start shipping 4/17

This sounds reasonable. I check my account and still nothing though. I my fingers crossed.

To be fair though, getting the phone on the 21st is already a week before the release date so I'm just happy to be getting it a week early.

My Verizon receipt says deliver on Apr 21, not ship on Apr 21. So for me to get it on the 21st, Verizon would have to ship it around the 18th or so.

Ordered 2 S8s and can't wait to get them in. I went to Best Buy today and looked at them and they look awesome. Fit great
in my small hands. I think that people will be very happy with this phone.
