[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

Awesome! Found a Voice Search fix that seem to have worked for me to resolve the issue when trying to use with lots of background noise.

EVO VOICE SEARCH FIX!!! - Pocketables Forum

Just press menu, settings, applications, manage apps, all apps, voice search, click on it, select "clear data"

To test, I turned up my radio in the office then used it it to send a text to my wife. Worked! Great improvement. I will report back after my commute home in my car with the road noise and radio on.

I am now a very happy Evo with Gingerbread user. Phone is much faster and battery life is slightly better. All my other issues were solved by doing a reset "back to default"

My last remaining issue is getting a temp root program that will work on Gingerbread.

Wow wow wubzy... That seems to have taken care of it for me! Hopefully it "sticks"...

Hi all, I have a problem I haven't yet seen in here. Any contacts that were saved as "phone" contacts before this update are gone. I suspect they're hiding, but I don't know how to get to them. I did resync from google, and I have those contacts back, but the phone book is totally gone, along with the pictures I took to go with those contacts. Any ideas?

open people and hit the menu button then tap view and make sure there's a check mark next to phone.

does this fix the voice to text program too? That's the one that doesn't work with background noise on my Evo.

Anyone else experiencing dropped calls in areas where you did not drop calls before. This is after the update.

Other issue I have experienced is the HTC logo screen popping up when memory is short (from what I have read).
Great..I thought this was because I was calling other people on their cell phones. I drop calls in my kitchen now when I never did before. Guess I'll stop blaming my mom for "hanging up" on me! LOL, sorry mom. BTW - the text to speech works flawlessly after an earlier suggestion to clear the data of voice search! Thanks for all the help guys!

Just a thought but do you think if we reset/erased the data for Sense through manage applications that it would clear up the HTC splash screen issue? Has anyone tried it yet? If so did it stop Sense from resetting when backing out of an app? I'm assuming you'd have to reset all your homescreens and recustomize them all over again If you did this reset right?

That issue you're talking about...(splash screen) I'm not experiencing. However, anything is worth a shot.

Ps. After "force stop" sense, or clear data... will result in setting the phone displays to factory default. This only affect Htc Sense only. None of your applications will be affected by doing this.

Here is one that I dont see listed.

My phone keeps stopping when listening to streaming or cached audio. What I mean is, lets say I am listening to a podcost I down loaded to my phone. I'll get to just after the 30 minute mark in the cast and the phone just stops. In fact, Google Listen will just go away. I thought it was a listen issue, but I get the same response from Google Music, and TuneIn radio.

I know the official update was supposed to have fixed whatever streaming issue was introduced in Android, and I do have to admit that my streaming sources work alot better after the update then before. Pandora is still horrible and I have to resort to an edited version to keep it working properly.

I just cant figure out why my audio sources just stop. This happens everyday. I will be listening to a podcast that I downloaded and 30-40 minutes in it just quits. I wake up the phone and the app isnt even running anymore. I dont have a task killer so for the life of me I cant figure out what is stopping my apps.

Again, this happens with Google Listen, Google Music, Pandora (if I get it to stay streaming that long), and TuneIn Radio. It also doesnt matter whether the apps is live streaming or not.

Any Thoughts? This has only started happening after the official update.

I did that and it didn't help. I did it inadvertently but either way, Sense still restarts when exiting some apps. Clearing data will reset all your homescreens, folders, widgets etc to the factory default. It was a pain to re customize everything.
It's happening more frequently now and is becoming close to a deal breaker for this phone. If you have a live wallpaper then forget it, Sense will restart every min.
Will a reboot to original factory clean slate fix it? That's such a drastic measure but I'm contemplating it now, but only if someone can say for a fact it worked.

I just went through settings > applications > manage applications > click the all tab then go by the apps and find the ones you barely use and clear data and/or move to sd. Or both. My internal memory almost double after doing all this. And now I have had no issues with htc sense splash screen. So why not try that...

internal storage and memory are very different and separate things. clearing app data/caches will NOT free up memory. The htc splash screen problem is a memory issue, not a storage issue.

Vgamer4550, I might know what is causeing the problem. Try this and see if this helps. Put the phone on the charger and see if that helps it not stop. Secoundly you can turn your screen to never turn off. The lock screen might be needing to be refreshed but the issue is that you will have to do a factory reset in order to correct your issue. If you want backup you user data and then do a factory reset install or use you media player for you podcasts and see if that fixed it. If not restore your backup and there would be a problem I do not know of as of yet to why your streaming stops

I have 201 free memory.. Isn't that good? All my apps that can go to sd card do already and I use History Eraser to keep cache clear. How much memory do you have?

Agreed! Although I'm locked into a 2 yr contract so the deal has already been made, lol. I just hope a fix is coming via update soon.

New problem I just bumped into. (For me that is). I'm a game lover... and I love playing NFS Shift. What I've notice is that when playing this game it pauses now when the "screen timer" goes out. My screen timer is set on default (1min). I've never experience this until this update. Anyone seeing this happening? smf!!

Same thing happens to me, have to press the screen from time to time to continue playing. My other two Gameloft games games won't even open any longer, I get a NOT a original copy of this game message at opening. They are original downloads.:(
