[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

OK I did a search before posting. If this is the wrong place I will remove it. After installing gengerbread I am unable to use HTC sync nor am I able to access the SD on the computer and when i try to put to use as a disk drive the phone stops accessing the sd card until I reboot the phone. The computer does not see the phone anymore. I installed the latested HTC sync

Definitely getting better battery life. Is anyone still using a task killer, or should I not bother anymore?

Eransle I have seen better battery without task killers since froyo. Just use the menu. -->settings -->applacations -->running applactions button to task kill.

I had this happen yesterday to my non-updated EVO. I noticed it was only the apps that were on my SD card. Is that the case with you? This happened to me while connected to my laptop and fixed itself when I disconnected.

Yes only SD apps, seems to be a sense error, and I'm not connected to anything when it happens. A full shutdown, ie batery swap, causes it to happen.

There are a couple instances where this might happen. One, you turn your phone on and the system has to load all the apps from the SD card into memory so you can access them. The droid icons will revert to the actually app icon once it's done loading. Two, your SD card becomes unmounted from the system and the app data can't be accessed. Such as when you hook it your computer to put music on it or you remove the SD card from the device. If anything...just give it the ol' reboot and let it load everything up and see what happens with your apps.

Reloading causes it, and only in folders, the apps on the main screens are just fine. Manually killing sense is the only way to get them back up.

I'm at 24 hours with 46% battery.

I use juicedefender tweaked to my liking though and haven't left my wifi area in that time. however this is markedly better than i got pre-gingerbread with similar usage.

YMMV

Same wi-fi issue

Searched in this thread for this issue, and saw it mentioned a few times, but did not see any real solutions for this. I bought my HTC Evo with the expectation of using ONLY 802.11n wi-fi. After the GB update, I no longer have this option and Sprint tech support says they have no record of this as a change to the software. Sprint also says they cannot revert me back to the older software version that worked. Does anyone know how I can revert this software myself? I have no use for low-brow, non-secure 802.11 b or g.

Not fully true. You can switch scenes to a preloaded one then back to your custom/preferred scene and it will refresh the icons.

Rebooting the phone (restart) will cause the icons to go back to the defaults again. So wash, rinse repeat until an update is made to fix the issue.

My EVO has run flawlessly since the update! When you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for upgrading, everything seems to work better!

I'll quote and ask as well, what manufacture and what recommendations?

FWIW, my upgrade went fine and nothing broke. Except that stupid clock that updates from 1 hour and 2 seconds slow when coming out of lock. :D

OK so I first posted Pandora was not working very well after the update. It still does not work and there are no updates as of yet. Since I have to listen to a radio at work I tried a few other apps that work with GB.

1. Slacker Radio seems to be working fine , every once in a while I will have to restart my phone after that it works again for a few hours.

2. Google Music, I was lucky enough to get a beta invite and that works just fine.

Hope this helps someone as I really like Pandora but I am starting to like Slacker Radio even more now. I also have the phantom Voice Mail problem and I can't check my messages , i'm not sure how to fix that problem. Overall every thing else seems to work ok on the EVO.

My Pandora works great. Rooted phone though, and I am not sure if the radios updated all the way, and I did not wipe out cache, dalvik yes, program cache no.

Each individual device may vary. I did a "reset" this morning and the bouncing cursor issue have been fixed. The voicemail pop-up notification didn't. Apart from some application not being compatible with this version of Htc Sense (gingerbread 2.3)... I'm good thus far.

(Just thinking)
I wonder why the Evos never had gotten the gingerbread keyboard with the skin most users wanted. Ugh! Thank Google for the market... And thank the devs for giving us options. :-D

Voicemail pop-up fix is easy.. Go into settings, Call, then clear voicemail notification.

Has anyone confirmed that the HTC sense reload issue goes away with a hard reset? I'd rather not go through the hassle if the issue isn't solved. Thanks

No, it does not. I did a factory reset, and Sense has reloaded a couple of times since.

that's what i'm hoping! so far so good. did a reset and was careful with what i restored as far as apps and data/system data goes.

so far it hasn't restarted on me, only been a couple hours though. however as noted others have not had much luck so who knows :/

OK. WTH! I open a browser. When I exit, Sense seems to be rebooting and redrawing everything on the home screen. I open a video player, when I exit, same thing.

I missed a phone call because when it rang and exited the player, the little rectangle in the center of the screen had the "focus" and I couldn't click to answer the phone!

Am I the only one with this issue? I skimmed through this thread and can't find a single mention of this (unless I went blind momentarily and missed it.)

you did go blind, couple of us mentioned it with the last few posts.

no biggy though, i was having the issue too, did another factory reset and was more mindfull with what i restored and so far so good.

if you factory reset, be careful not to restore ALL system data when using apps like titanium sync or mybackup.

i shouldn't speak so soon though, the problem may pop back up on me!

Just had a interesting conversation with tech support, apparently not enough people have called about the HTC reload issue, they don't have it on the list of things to look into yet, if you have the issue please call them...... Thanks

My HTC Sense reloading issues went away when I removed any widgets I added with the Widgetsoid program. Then it ran stable.

I still ended up factory resetting the device a day later to try and solve what I perceive to be less battery life and the Google voice search problems when trying to use in loud environments

The reset seems to have helped my battery usage, but not the Voice search issues. . I am now happy with the update overall. The update made my phone Snappier, and also fixed soem bluetooth issues I was having connecting to my Garmin. Now it stays connected and also displays my address book on the Garmin GPS in the car. (it would not do this before)

Only two remaining issues for me are:

Google Voice Search only works with no background noise.
Google sky does not work correctly due to the internal compass issues.

I keep checking the app store for updates to these two programs.

Factory Reset erases all data, correct? I've never done that. And I don't have Titanium or MyBackup.
Whats the best way to reload all my apps once I do a factory reset??
