OFFICIAL: Motorla Droid getting Froyo next week

I got tired of the wait for 2.2 and just downloaded the update.zip file last night on my phone and my wife's MotoDroid. Only issue I had was anti-virus and GPR Tracker apps went bonkers when the phone was restarted, so I uninstalled/reinstalled after the reboot and they've been working fine since.

I'm very happy w/2.2.

Should i root prior to accepting OTA

Given the updates have restarted...

I'm running unrooted, stock 2.1. I'm going to want to start with this whole flashing/rooting stuff over the next weeks and months...is there any reason to root my Droid1 now, before I'm offered/accept this release?

Got sick of waiting for my update in NY, few people i know have gotten it, downloaded the zip and after a few minor bumps on my part i got it running and love it

Has anybody on this site actually got the OTA today? seems to have slowed right down again with people reporting they got the OFFICIAL ota TODAY

I haven't received it either. I'm in 919 are code and am pessimistic that they are doing them in numerical order :-(

One of my co-workers got it in Michigan a day or 2 ago. I loaded it manually, so I don't have to worry about it.

Stopped into my local Vz store today and they said the Droid will be getting Froyo on August 18. Guess we'll just have to wait & see . And keep our fingers crossed.

OTA update

Got message today morning about OTA update (file size 71.6MB). But I am already rooted with FRG22 and question is do I need to go ahead and install OTA or ignorr it. If not how I can get the rooted again.

Finally. It's for real. Chicago area, got it this a.m. Five home screens, MUCH faster, still awaiting the Adobe Flash player, says it will follow, can't download directly apparently.

I called VZW tech-support this morning, I was asked to call back if I don't see an OTA update until then.
