OFFICIAL: Motorla Droid getting Froyo next week

If it starts today it probably wont happen until after 6 or 7 tonight. That is what I think.

I think since they didn't include tethering and mobile hotspots for this Froyo release on the Droid they could have included something cool instead like swype for the guys that aren't rooted you know? I got my update to 2.1 at like 5 or 6 on a day the rumors said it wasn't supposed to come last time ***** like what's been said here before this time it seems more organized and legit

i hate to bust the party here but i somewhat hate this update. I tried the rooted versions before and it has the same thing which the new stock one has

1) No BlueTooth dialing (Well the rooted one works, but the stock one doesnt)
Update: FIXED
2) The volume key is the biggest killer for me. I like to slide it to vibrate then to SILENT by pushing down. Now it constantly hits vibrate vibrate.. I try putting it on SILENT mode via the power button but of course it doesnt do that, twitter, emails, texts still vibrate the phone. Kinda annoying when you're sleeping... I dunno. pretty disappointed unless someone can find a util that'll allow me to volume down to silent and keep all my stuff silent instead of vibrating.. Kinda fail if you ask me.

Sad panda is sad

Pros: its faster yes

EDIT:
Application Silent Toggle Widget appeases the anger

My Droid turns off once connected to the USB and OTA takes too long to download.
I might just go purchase a new phone tomorrow, just maybe.

For your second problem, go to Settings / Sound. Look for the option Vibrate. Then change it to Vibrate Only when not in Silent Mode.

After doing this, the volume button will take you all the way down to silence without leaving Vibrate on. In all other cases, the phone will vibrate.

Great tip!!! That's the kind of thing that drives people crazy.

they pushed out a few updates , but they are changing frg010b to frg22. so we don't realy now when or what to expect anymore.

hmm...possible interesting turn in events if true
Motorola Droid Android 2.2 OTA update delayed indefinitely

For those of you who have been holding back from manually installing Froyo aka Android 2.2 on your Motorola Droid, you may want to rethink your game plan. For those of you that have, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back even if you’ve been experiencing issues.

And I know many of you have.

The latest concerning Verizon’s rollout of Android 2.2 to the Motorola Droid has it getting delayed indefinitely because of problems with Adobe’s Flash. Apparently there is a glitch that they are trying to fix until they release the update to the masses.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that you can install Froyo on your phone right now and not have to worry about the OTA rollout. So, if you are completely over waiting for Verizon to get their act together, you can go ahead and do that.

Otherwise, you could be in for some waiting. Or, you could just go ahead and pick up the Motorola Droid 2 which has essentially been confirmed for release next Thursday on August 12th. That of course is subject to change especially considering this turn of events, but it’s very likely.

If you want to install Froyo manually, you can head here. If you want to get Flash, you can head right here.

do you think they could be holding up the update till after the droid 2 to possibly gain more droid 2 sales since it comes stock with 2.2 as a marketing and buisness decision?

Does anyone really know what is happening with the OTA update? Is it on? Is it off? What release?

So remember when AC said there was supposed to be a fix aka FR 22? because im still running FR 1B or whatever it is and it blows...wasnt there supposed to be an update?

There is supposed to be an update, but I haven't heard anything about it yet. All we know is that FRG01B update from last week was stopped.
