If the files are gone then you have to SBF. In the future just freeze or rename them so you can return it to a stock state later.
SBF isn't all that scary, just an extra step.

Yea, I did the SBF on my phone, but didn't want to do it on my bro's phone unless it was necessary. Should I do the SBF now and re-do gingerbread? He hasn't had any problems with the phone.
