Official Pixel 8/8 Pro Pre-order Thread.

I'm retired & hardly ever home ... but I'm clearing the deck for "New Phone Day" on Monday. FedEx is expected to deliver from 10;00 - 2:00, and I'm hoping that they deliver sooner rather than later!

Anybody set up their Watch 2 LTE yet? Especially if you've upgraded from Watch 1 LTE. I have no idea how to go about it.

I set mine up on Friday. I didn't have the original watch, so I had no idea what I was doing. Basically, you just connect the watch to the power cord for a while until it powers on, the watch prompts you to do some things, then hands you off to the phone to finish up. I got it Friday evening and had a hard time keeping the Bluetooth connection between it and the phone for some reason, but it finally stuck the next day. The setup walked you right through getting your LTE setup from your provider, without having to go into a store, which surprised the heck out of me! Taking a phone call on it was slick and sounded just as clear and loud as using the phone. The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to get it to notify me when a text message comes in. There's probably lots of other things, too, but so far I'm very pleased with the Watch 2.

I realize I was one of the lucky ones, but I have to applaud Google for shipping some phones early. As much grief as they usually get with phone launches, I think it was a good idea for some that preordered to get the phone a day early. It's only 1 day, and couldn't be everyone, but think it was a big PR gain for them.

I got my Watch 2 on Thursday and finally got my beautiful Porcelain P8P this afternoon. (Love that matte glass back!) I THINK I have it all set up by now ... but ya never know! I've had a few surprises ... settings that went totally askew ... so I'm sure I'll be tweeking on it for another day or two! (It's amazing how much I forget about setting up a phone until I go to set up another!)

The setup and transfer process was The easiest so far. The watch took a couple tries. Everything is working fine now and I am sending in my 7 Pro tomorrow.

Yes I was also lucky. Mine came a day early and by 8:15am. So I had a whole day of playing with it before it was technically due. My watch was in the same package and I was impressed with the whole buying experience from them.

Yeah, lots of Watches in the Marketplace. I got a couple of offers for $200 locally but didn't sell. I'll see if someone at least offers $250 cash locally, if not I'll just keep it with me just to play around once in a while

Yeah, after fees, I only got $199 for them, which is probably closer to what they are worth. Honestly, if I had a choice, I would have picked the Pixel Buds Pro over the watch...but Google knew what they were doing. Compromises created by an artificial divide from standard to pro.

I have mine up now for $233 on Swappa but with fees $200 is about right for the take home ...oh well I don't need the watch

Wait in the Google store US, there was an option to choose either free watch or free buds pro with Pixel 8 pro. Where are you based? You didn't have that option?

I already have the pixel buds pro so went with Pixel watch 2. Another reason is just the monetary value of the watch is $350 as opposed to $200 for the buds pro

No, sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I said IF I had a choice. There was no choice though, as folks who went with the P8 got the Buds Pro, while those who went Pro were stuck with the watch.

As for monetary value, the resale market shows they pretty much have the same value. No one can move their watches until they lower their price to around $200, and the Buds Pro have held steady at that price for as long as they've been out.

Yes. In Canada if you ordered the Pro you got the choice of the Pixel Buds Pro or Pixel Watch 2
If you ordered the regular P8 you got the choice of either free Pixel Buds Pro or $260 off Pixel Watch 2.

I'm seeing some guys trying to hock a Pixel 8 pro 128GB AND the pixel watch 2 as a bundle for $1700 CAD. Do these dummies not realize you can still just order the phone from Google and get the watch free?
