Yes. In Canada if you ordered the Pro you got the choice of the Pixel Buds Pro or Pixel Watch 2
If you ordered the regular P8 you got the choice of either free Pixel Buds Pro or $260 off Pixel Watch 2.

That was the case even in the USA as well so I'm not sure where all the confusion is

At least in the US, I had the choice to select Pixel Watch 2 or Pixel Buds Pro as the free gift while ordering the Pixel 8 Pro.

This was via the Google store, maybe places like Best buy or carriers didn't provide that option?

You're probably right. I ordered mine from Google. I doubt the carriers are even offering the Pixel Buds Pro as I don't think they normally sell earbuds.

BestBuy was only the watch 2 ..which was okay since they had better trade in values than GS

No, sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I said IF I had a choice. There was no choice though, as folks who went with the P8 got the Buds Pro, while those who went Pro were stuck with the watch.

As for monetary value, the resale market shows they pretty much have the same value. No one can move their watches until they lower their price to around $200, and the Buds Pro have held steady at that price for as long as they've been out.

We did have a choice of buds and watch in the UK.

I ordered through a retail chain, and was relegated to the watch due to picking the pro model. I would have loved the buds, even though I've got more than a few pairs already. I assume you also went directly through Google?

Yes. Going through a retailer only offered the watch.

You can get the buds on ebay right now for about 125.00. I got a pair with my 8 a few days ago and was thinking about selling them. If I post on ebay I think I'll wait till the dust clears.

Slightly on/off topic: I pre-ordered the P8P on Oct. 5 through the Google Store...got the watch as a throw-in. After playing with the phone for a bit, I boxed everything up and returned it. I was very favorably impressed with how quickly and efficiently my return was processed and my $$ charged back. Given that experience, I'll at least be comfortable doing business with them in the future. as always......ymmv

I think it’s a gimmick, and I’d rather just have a lower price.

Well, my P8P was supposed to arrive today but Fedex dropped the ball again (lost it, decided not to deliver it or it was stolen) and I have no clue where it is. Tracking just says delayed. Local Fedex is relatively bad compared to UPS.

Watch is supposed to be here first week or two of November.
