Official Press Image of the HTC One (M8)

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

The HTC One M8 has my interest piqued, no doubt. It's a sexy looking phone.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

The bezel is the same, at least from the pics and stuff that have been leaked.
Idk, these look more exaggerated. The bottom bezel on the M7 didn't stand out because it had the buttons there, while the M8 just has an HTC logo and a bunch of unused space.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

How can you say that when they look identical?

Because they don't. The bezel on the original One had the buttons, while this one has a bunch of unused space. That alone takes away from the looks

When it comes out I'll measure for you. ;)

What if this bezel also has some functionality, like a fingerprint scanner or something, would you reconsider your feelings towards it?

I'm not getting the phone regardless, I was just commenting on the appearance.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

The bezel is definitely a downside, but this is still the best looking Android phone by a mile.

U think so?
I think the Xperiz Z2 looks better than this...though I dont think this is that bad looking of a phone

I like them both, but I also agree that the M8 looks better than the Z2.

The M8 looks way better than the Z2 IMO.

I wish people would stop complaining about the bezel with the HTC logo. You have no idea why its there. Sure, it may not have a user feature; however, they probably needed that little bit of extra space to fit a larger battery or something in.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

They could have easily removed that bottom black bezel and just extended the screen out. Instead they choose to keep the apparently same exact bezel from the one and remove the capacitive buttons. Now you just have a giant black bar with an HTC logo. That's it. What a waste. And it does look goofy. Overall the phone is nice looking but that black bar is driving me nuts. Seriously HTC just keep the logo on the back and be done with it. Stop trying to reserve and entire section on the front of the phone for your name. No one likes it.

The M8 is hideous in comparison to the M7 :-\

And that's your opinion - so why do you say (twice now) it's "hideous"?

It's pretty evident he doesn't like the phone.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

The bezel is somewhat large but I can live with that as well. It has to have SD 64 gb 128 gb would be better. It has to have 32 gb on board and 64 would be better there as well. I could even accept a non removable battery if I had to do so. I never owned this brand before so I have question about signal...is it on par/better than what everyone says about signal reception on a motorola? I live in a somewhat rural area and many times signal is somewhat hard to come by. I remember an old Motorola flip phone (815) I had back when which would work almost anyplace but I then got the Motorola razr flip phone thinking it would be the same and very quickly decided I was wrong. The Motorola razr flip phone was the absolute worst phone I ever owned. When Motorola came out a while back with the razr and razr maxx I stayed completely clear of them. I purchased a Samsung Nexus but took that back within the week, very bad signal plus horrible battery life. I then went for the S3 which I did not have any issue with and now I have S4 which I am very happy with now. I have been thinking of the HTC One max but I just don't know about signal. I have also been thinking of waiting for this phone here as well.

I'm gonna wait until it's revealed before I pass judgment unlike many that have posted. I still don't see what the hangup is with the bezel - okay, it's there - if it stays there isn't anything that we can do about it other than not buy it. I too can live with a non-removable battery but the micro sd-card is a plus.

I had the RAZR flip when it first was released but I was in Germany at the time and on Deutsche Telekom and loved it. It was the thinnest device at the time and I never had any issues.

Let me know what you decide to do.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

If available 32/64gb onboard w/ SD slot for media binging, a little bezel is ok with me! Premium looking phone. Can't wait to see more previews.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

I don't get people claiming the bezel is useless or a waste of space. These phones are engineered to heck and back, you honestly think they'd leave the bezel there for absolutely no reason? There's bound to be a reason, we just don't know what it is. Maybe putting a slightly bigger screen in (to take up more bezel space) would have required a screen with less reliability. HTC has already suffered from part supply problems in the past, it wouldn't surprise me if they went with this size screen because it was more readily available. Maybe shrinking the phone down to take up the bezel would have resulted in an unacceptable compromise somewhere else, such as battery capacity or some other required component.

Hate on the look of the bezel if you want, but calling it useless is unfair until we know what's hiding underneath (hello iFixit teardowns!)

And on that note, I don't mind the bezel, really.

Re: Official Press Image of the HTC One 2 (M8)

I've been playing with my co workers One. Function over fashion, the front facing speakers alone make these phones (One and new One) awesome for gaming/media/speakerphone and help me ignore all the big fat Bezel whining and crying. It cant be more than a few CENTIMETERS.

This phone wins over the other rumor phones so far.

I don't like the look of the phone, which is what this thread is about :p

I will probably get this as long as I get the SD slot and 32Gb or more on board. It will probably be after it has been out and they are found on Swappa.com or EBAY though. Swappa.com or EBAY no sales tax yet.
