Official/Unofficial 2.3.4 Gingerbread RUU Leaked

Re: Official RUU Gingerbread Leak

I could care less about root anymore only thing I really need it for is for the screen shot app shoot me. Stock is just cleaner and less hassle. Don't get me wrong I'd prefer vanilla Android.

Re: Official RUU Gingerbread Leak

Can't wait for them to release the ota. This means there is progress!

Another little annoyance, the Sense wifi toggle doesn't toggle crap. It's just a shortcut to the wifi settings menu. Lame.

Will this fix the hearing yourself in the ear piece during a call issue? My wife was talking on the phone and running the water in the kitchen and it made so much noise she could hardly hear.

Wifi is the only thing it doesn't actually toggle which is strange my incredible 2 had them all as toggles.

Actually, hearing yourself in the earpiece is different than picking up ambient noise.

The hearing yourself in the earpiece is by design. Some phones have more, some less. Some (few now, but used to me more) have virtually none. The lower this "hearing yourself" volume is, the louder people tend to talk. To the extent of yelling while they are talking on a cell phone (if there is none). They add this hearing yourself feature to make more like the land lines people are used to. Personally, I like it on the TBolt. I think they got it just right.

The ambient noise issue is a function of noise canceling. Many phones have issues with this. One of the worst I've ever owned in this regard was the WinMo Touch Pro2. The other end could hear everything that was going on around you better than you could :) I think the TBolt is okay along these lines. But like most phones, the noise canceling could be better. Problem is, if they overdo it, it sounds muffled. So... catch 22.

Yeah but I listened to it on her phone and it was completely awful. Sounded like the old school TVs when the static was on just cause she had the water on.

You might have an issue with one of the microphones then which isnt allowing he noise cancelling to work properly. Does hers have a case, is it covering one of the microphones?

Re: Official RUU Gingerbread Leak

Has a case but all three microphones are uncovered

Yes it can we have an official Twitter leak and none of y'all seem to care! All I have to say is yyyyeeeeaaahhh Boy!

I will delay the update as long as possible. It will screw up something - guaranteed! What you want is the NEXT update to fix THIS update.

I wonder if voicemail notifications will work properly for the verizon voicemail? None of the current gb roms will afaik.

Re: Official RUU Gingerbread Leak

rofl well I assumed the two on the top back and the one on the bottom was all mics lol. Being they are all uncovered or however many there are, any other ideas as to the cause? is there a way to toggle the noise cancellation maybe it got turned off by mistake? Up to suggestions for sure

After reading all 12 pages of this I don't see why people are updating to this... Sure it's new, and new = better, but think about it: Lose your warranty, buggy GB build, no rooting, no downgrading. I highly recommend that if you want GB, root while you can and flash a ROM, or wait till the OTA. Personally I think everyone should just root or get an iPhone :)

There are only two microphones, the main one on the bottom edge and the noise cancelling one on the top edge next to the headphone jack. Are both of those uncovered? You could also try taking the case off and seeing if the problem is still present.

Re: Official RUU Gingerbread Leak

Yes both of those are uncovered so the case is not interfering with it.

You speak of rooting like it's a panacea but all of the roms have bugs. No voicemail notifications, oh I know switch to google voice, takes forever to lock on gps? Oh I know - you don't use gps. Can't answer the phone? No problem - nobody calls me. My stock tb does all of the above without hassle or additional software.

Why would i want to root? The best reason I could think of is to rip off vzw with free tethering. I'd rather pay than worry about getting caught.

I don't begrudge rooting. I'd love to try it! Every time I think about it I find a flaw in the rom that I dont want to deal with. Updating is a hassle too. I just want my tb to "work" as advertised. The pretty things gb promises don't mean much to me. I just want everything to "work". Since the last update my tb works. Now I don't want to mess with it. My biggest complaint is if I lose vzw signal it takes a long time to re-acquire it. Sometimes i still need to restart, maybe gb will fix that but ive read of similar issues with various roms. I'd also like 4g everwhere but gb wont fix that.
