Oh how I miss my optical trackpad

I am so satisfied with my Rezound. It's a solid piece of kit, & more than the perfect upgrade from the OG DInc. Only, I really miss that optical trackpad; especially when it comes to selecting text, small links, or avoiding auto-correct. Is it just me world?

Your not alone but that's the only damn reason I'd miss having an OTP on my phone.

Yes those are my only reasons as well. But, my thumbs still instinctively go to that spot when I come across certain situations. The Rezound looks much cleaner w/o the OTP, but it was a good tool.

I used it enough to find it useful, but not enough that I actually miss it anymore.

That's the only reason I used it. And it was very useful for that purpose. My Dad uses it for navigating on his DInc so he'll probably never upgrade!

Rezound is a little better at living without it, except the cursor likes to jump around if the text box is larger than the screen width. Annoying! So I do miss using the OTP a little bit. In fact, that's the whole reason I'm using Tapatalk to avoid that jumpy cursor.

Seems like a lot of you have had a history of HTC devices. Is it Sense or the device itself that brings you back for more? I could personally never have another Sense based phone and die a happy person. It's not that I think Sense is bad, per se... I just think it's unnecessarily invasive and pervasive(it's hard to get rid of).

HTC (to me) seem to have the strongest radios...
I started with the HTC ERIS...
Then the DInc....
tried the Samsung Fascinate.. (it sucked!)
tried the MOTO DX.. it was ok, but I like my Dinc. better.
recently tried the galaxy nexus for a while... it sucked bad! Never could get a signal anywhere in my town!
I knew HTC was good (IMO), so I went with the rezound...

I am actually a fan Sense... Not every last about it is perfect, but overall I like it best out of all the options out there.

When the DInc first came out, I was using an LG feature phone and an iPod touch as my pda/wifi device. Sense filled a lot of gaps at the time, some of which no longer exist. Some of what was unique to sense at the time vs. other android options:

-Sync with Outlook via HTC Sync
-Pinch to zoom in the web browser
-my favorite clock, calendar and power management widgets
-7 home screens vs 5
-i liked their keyboard the best with press & hold to type shift characters and double space for period
-other reasons I can't think of right now.

Anyway, I still like Sense and the way many things operate. Playing with Nexus and Moto phones in the store haven't won me over enough to switch.

The low memory error (only 150mb allocated to app data) became a huge issue on my DInc (google voice and gmail wouldn't update, most notifications wouldn't work, streamng apps crashed, gps tracking apps would crash.). If I wasn't positive that that issue had been resolved on future models, I would never have gotten another HTC phone.

I loved my Incredible (still do, just a wifi only device now). I wanted something different for my upgrade though. Two Galaxy Nexus later I went with something I knew would work, the Rezound. My brother has the Droid X, many coworkers have Motorolas (X, Bionic, etc), my wife has the Droid 4. I messed with the Razr multiple times before getting the Gnex, so I know my way around a motorola phone, and after using HTC for so long, I am never "wowed" or impressed by Motorola. HTC hardware seems better, signal is always better (in my experience), screen is better, camera is better. I'm OK with Sense, so I'll take all the other better stuff while I'm at it.

Yeah, I also am a fan of sense. Although stock android is nice, it's a little much at times and if you are not hugely into customization then it can be a bit tiresome messing around with it all. Granted I have had a few devices since I last had a stock android device so things may be different now, but I like sense. It was the first skinned android device I used. Before that I had only used the G1. but I got my first taste of sense on the Dinc. It was a great device and got me hooked on sense. From that point on, any device that was stock or another skin other than sense hasn't felt the same. I have a cousin with a tricked out GNex that he let me mess around with for a couple hours and it was ok but I didnt really care much for one. And my brother has a razr maxx, but I just cant stand any motorola device. Their skins suck to me, I would use a samsung device before motorola.

Interesting, you had an Eris and went to another HTC device to follow. Did you have a good experience on the Eris? I don't know to much about the Eris but I've never heard anyone who owned one say it was a good phone. They say they were happy to get rid off it.

Ok, I guess the question of questions is (especially for the HTC loyalists), do you still play with every device that comes out in that given generation or do you head to the nearest HTC phone and that's that? I'm no more loyal to HTC than I am to Moto or Sammy(since I've owned at least one device from everyone).

I'm genuinely curious with this just because of the way I do things. I take a look at what's available and I play with all of the phones for as long as I can and then I buy one, or if they all don't feel right I stick with what I have until something comes along that I like.

Even I love the htc phones that I've had I do consider every phone that's out and sometimes one's that are coming soon( depending on the date) when looking for my next phone. I search through the forums to find out about issues and to see how the masses enjoy the phone, Then I usually find one and play with it for a while and check the prices, specials etc, then base my decision from there on what my next device will be.

HTC Rezound is my first android device. I did play/use androids that my friends had (a lot had iTOYphones), and tried Moto and Sammy out in the store. The Rez just felt better, more...umm substantial? I guess that's what I mean.

Anyway, will stick with HTC when upgrade comes around next time, unless somebody else comes out with something that just blows me away, or HTC just blows.

And I like sense, although I think 7 home screens is too many. I have my apps in "folders" by category anyway, and I really don't like widgets that much. To me a widget is just a "lite" version of the app with limited functionality. Not all, but most. Most of the time I have to open the app anyway to do what I need.

Not only did I try other phones, I bought the Gnex after my Inc. After 7 days, 2 phones, SIM cards, resets - I went with the Rezound. I really wanted something different, a change, but HTC won me over in the end again.

Back to the thread's original line. I miss my DINC's track pad also. Must be because of fat fingers on my part. The cursor window isn't as accurate as the track pad. :(

It's hard to hate a phone that just plain works.
