Oh yeah!!!!!! Official!!!!!!!!! Feb 13!!!!!

Future droid owner here so curious, why the inspire over the atrix? Specs have me sold on the atrix so just wondering why not everyone else.

Thanks

I think it comes down to personal preference over specs:
--HTC Sense vs. MotoBlur (many say Sense is more refined)
--Ease of rooting an HTC device (Motorola has, especially recently, been making it harder and harder to root and install custom ROMs, and for myself personally this is probably the biggest factor)
--Build quality (HTC consistently cranks out solid devices)
--Price (the Atrix will most likely be $50-100 more expensive)

I am 3 months away from an upgrade. I just called ATT and told them I've been with them for 7 years and that if they didn't wave the $200 early upgrade fee that I was going to leave them. They didn't bite. Any suggestions on how to get out of this fee?

For me its mostly the hack-a-bility, Its basically a Desire HD so there is already a host of ROMS for it, ie CM7

Wait a bit after Verizon gets the iPhone and ATT might be willing to get and/or keep customers. :)

Simple, nobody needs that technology yet. I mean, if you actually think that you WILL use the dual-cores to their fullest potential, then your either on your phone way to much, or your completely mistaken. You see, a dual-core processor isn't necessary on a cell phone for multiple reasons: Android isn't optimized for it and I doubt that Google will optimize it for dual-core phones for at least a year, and I'm thinking two. Also, think about it, you have a dual-core phone, and what, 10,000 other people do too. I would much rather have a phone that a very large group of people are using, so that way any problems can be answered anytime. And from an HTC vs. Motorola standpoint, seriously? When you compare the two it sounds dumb to say "I'm getting the Atrix 4G'. HTC has better build quality, they are the fastest with updating devices, they welcome developers, and its HTC Sense UI is very nice, especially with the new Sense UI, where you can customize the look and feel of Sense without rooting the phone. Motorola on the other hand has MotoBlur, the worst invention of all time, Motorola is slow with updates (Due to MotoBlur), they DON'T like developers (Duh, the locked bootloader), and Motorola has a bad rep in general for bad products, so its not even a choice by this point. HTC all the way dude.

Hope this helped:)

Matt

I'm torn between this and the Atrix, but I'm leaning towards this phone because of the positive experience I've had with HTC hardware and the negatives I've had with past Motorola phones.

All the same, I'm going to wait a bit to see if HTC drops something dual core at MWC or shortly thereafter, because as cool as this phone is I really want something dual core like the Atrix, I just don't want to be locked out of installing custom ROMs.

That's unfortunate. I am eligible for an upgrade come May 29. I called, and asked to speak to account cancellations... the guy I spoke with said when the phone comes out, to call back, and they'll get me the phone. It's all noted in his notes... and the recorded phone call I made!

Worked for me when I bought my Surround. Now, I'm still seeing I'm eligible for an upgrade, so you can bet i'll be getting one of these if that offer holds for 99 bucks. Hey, call and dial in the number that gives you the option to cancel your services and you'll be connected to priority customer service, not some Indian or Mexican that doesn't have a clue. I guarantee you'll get an offer you can't refuse.

Yeah, dial 611 on your AT&T cell phone, and push the number for account cancellations. Tell them your story.

Cant wait till i see AC do some benchmarks and an unboxing. Will be interesting to see how this phone performs with the Neo core. But again i wont be playing many games at all. I just like seeing some speed to it. Also the Atrix may not be that great in the dual core optimization. I mean atleast one core will be handling most tasks and the other core might be idle since th OS isnt optimized. But i think 3.0 is.

Anyone know if the phone will be able to side load apps? if not I have the version of htc sync that lets you install apps from your computer that arnt on the market will the inspire be supported on this version of htc sync? or does htc sync support all htc phones, new or old?

$99 at AT&T retail usually means $50 at Costco!!! I was waiting for the Nexus S but might go for this instead!

Its called rooting the phone. Then it doesn't matter what at&t does.

Matt

I don't want to have to root to be able side load apps. I'm getting tired of rooting/jailbreaking. I just want a phone that doesn't have to be hacked to make it work the way it should.
